How to Install a Container House Roof

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

The installation of a container house roof requires targeted design based on the roof type (such as an arched roof or flat roof), with core steps including design planning, material selection, frame construction, panel installation, waterproofing treatment, and safety maintenance.

1. Design Planning
Determine the roof shape (such as arched, flat, or sloped) based on the container size, purpose, and environment, and calculate the load-bearing capacity. For example, an arched roof needs to be designed with an arc that matches the container span to ensure resistance to wind and rain loads; at the same time, plan a drainage slope (usually ≥2%) to avoid water accumulation. If used for living, consider the thickness of the insulation layer and the position of skylights.

2. Material Selection

  • Structural Materials: Commonly used steel (such as H-beams, square tubes) or aluminum alloys, which need to meet strength requirements (e.g., a 20-foot container should have a load-bearing capacity of ≥25 tons).
  • Covering Materials: Options include metal panels (color-coated steel panels, aluminum-magnesium-manganese panels), waterproof fabrics, or translucent materials (such as PC endurance panels). Metal panels need to be corrosion-resistant, and waterproof fabrics need to be replaced regularly.
  • Auxiliary Materials: Connectors (bolts, rivets), sealants, waterproof coatings, insulation cotton (such as rock wool), and anti-rust paint.

3. Frame Construction

  • Positioning and Fixing: Mark the frame positions on the top of the container and use chemical anchors or welding to fix the steel frame bases.
  • Arched Structure: If it is an arched roof, bend the steel beams to the designed arc and enhance stability with trusses or cross-bracing.
  • Flat Roof Structure: Directly weld horizontal steel beams, with spacing determined according to the panel specifications (usually ≤1.2 meters).

4. Panel Installation

  • Cutting and Joining: Cut the panels according to the frame size, leaving expansion joints (5-10mm). Metal panels should be fixed with self-tapping screws, with a spacing of ≤300mm; waterproof fabrics should be reinforced with battens.
  • Sealing Treatment: Apply sealant at panel joints and screw holes, and wrap the edges with waterproof membranes.
  • Translucent Design: If daylighting is needed, replace some panels with PC panels locally and install sunshades to prevent overexposure to sunlight.

5. Waterproofing and Insulation

  • Waterproof Layer: Apply two coats of waterproof coating (such as polyurethane), focusing on the ridge, gutter, and areas where pipes penetrate.
  • Insulation Layer: Lay 50-100mm thick rock wool panels on the inside of the roof and cover them with galvanized steel sheets for protection.
  • Drainage System: Install rainwater pipes and downspouts to ensure smooth drainage.

6. Safety Maintenance

  • Inspection: After completion, check the frame welds, screw tightness, and waterproofing effect, and conduct a load test (such as stacking sandbags) to verify the load-bearing capacity.
  • Maintenance: Check for rust and sealant aging annually, and promptly repaint or replace materials; clear leaves to prevent drainage blockage.
