How to Install a Small Container House

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

The installation of a small container house should follow standardized procedures to ensure structural stability and safety in use. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Determine the Site and Foundation

Select a flat, dry, and well-drained site. Clear the surface of debris and garbage to avoid the risk of foundation settlement. Choose an appropriate foundation type based on the site's geological conditions (such as soil bearing capacity) and the design requirements of the container house:

  • Steel Foundation: Suitable for temporary or lightweight structures, supporting the container with a steel frame and having a short construction period;
  • Concrete Foundation: With strong bearing capacity, it is suitable for long-term fixed use and requires pre-pouring and curing to the design strength;
  • Wooden Foundation: Applicable to scenarios with stable geological conditions and small loads, requiring anti-corrosion treatment to extend service life.
    Foundation construction should be strictly positioned according to the design drawings, ensuring a horizontal error of no more than ±5mm to avoid tilting of the container after installation.

2. On-Site Adjustment and Inspection

Determine the installation position of the container according to the design direction and use a level to calibrate the foundation surface to ensure the container is level after placement. Focus on inspecting the container body:

  • Structural Integrity: Observe whether there are deformations or cracks at the four corners and welds of the container body;
  • Surface Flatness: Touch or use a straightedge to detect the surface of the container body to ensure there are no unevenness that may affect subsequent decoration;
  • Pre-treatment Condition: Confirm that the manufacturer has completed pre-treatment such as cutting and reinforcement (such as opening windows and doorways) according to requirements to avoid on-site secondary processing that may damage the structure.

3. Erect Columns and Beams

Columns and beams are the load-bearing cores of the container house and should be installed precisely according to the design drawings:

  1. Weld or bolt the bottom of the steel column to the embedded parts of the foundation to ensure a vertical deviation of ≤3mm;
  2. When installing the crossbeam, use a laser level to calibrate the position and connect the steel column and crossbeam with high-strength bolts to form a stable frame;
  3. Check all connection nodes to ensure there is no looseness or misalignment, and perform supplementary welding or reinforcement if necessary.

4. Install the Container

The container is usually pre-processed in the factory. On-site, the following steps are required:

  • Handling and Positioning: Use a forklift or crane to lift the container to above the foundation and slowly lower it to the designed position to avoid collision;
  • Connection and Fixation: Connect adjacent containers through corner fittings (standard connection fittings at the four corners of the container) using bolts or welding to form an overall structure;
  • Sealing Treatment: Apply waterproof sealant at the connection joints to prevent rainwater leakage.

5. Install Roof and Exterior Wall Facilities

Finally, complete the installation of functional components:

  • Doors and Windows: Cut the container body according to the design dimensions, install thermal-break aluminum doors and windows, and seal them with glue;
  • Roof Panel: Lay waterproof membranes or metal panels, install skylights and rainwater pipes to ensure smooth drainage;
  • Exterior Wall Decoration: Install insulation boards, decorative panels, or apply waterproof paint according to requirements to enhance aesthetics and thermal insulation performance.

After installation, conduct an overall acceptance inspection to check the structural stability, waterproof performance, and safety of the electrical wiring to ensure compliance with building code requirements.
