How to Build the Roof of a Prefabricated Panel House
The construction of the roof of a prefabricated panel house requires selecting an appropriate method based on the specific scenario. Common methods include flat-roof and pitched-roof structures, with particular attention to seismic safety design.

Flat-Roof Construction Method
If a flat-roof design is adopted, a circular skylight tray can be erected at the center of the roof as the core structure for drainage and lighting. The tray should be made of steel or concrete prefabricated components with sufficient strength to withstand loads such as snow and rain. It should be connected to the walls or main beams through crossbeams around the perimeter. The spacing between crossbeams should be determined based on the specifications of the prefabricated panels, typically not exceeding 1.2 meters, to ensure structural stability. When covering the top with thick wooden planks, choose wood that has been treated for corrosion resistance, with a recommended thickness of no less than 3 centimeters, and secure them to the crossbeams with bolts or nails. The joints between wooden planks should be waterproofed, such as by laying waterproof membranes or applying waterproof coatings, to prevent rainwater infiltration.
Pitched-Roof Construction Method
For a pitched roof, prefabricated 5-hole panels can be used as the roofing material. During construction, the prefabricated panels should be arranged one by one along the slope, with a 1-2 centimeter gap left between them for filling with waterproof mortar or sealant. To prevent slippage, horizontal members such as concrete barriers or steel clamps should be installed at the ends of the slope to secure the ends of the prefabricated panels. These horizontal members should be reliably connected to the ridge beam or gable walls to form an integrated load-bearing system. Additionally, the drainage system of the pitched roof should be well-designed, with drainage gutters installed at the ridge and downspouts directing rainwater to the ground to avoid damage to the roof caused by water accumulation.
Key Measures for Seismic Safety
If the house lacks ring beams, the prefabricated panel roof poses a significant safety hazard. Ring beams are crucial components that enhance the overall integrity of the walls and effectively restrain the displacement of prefabricated panels during earthquakes. If there are no ring beams, reinforced concrete ring beams should be added at the top of the walls, or chemical anchors should be used to connect the prefabricated panels to the walls to improve the seismic resistance of the structure. At the same time, the overlap length between the prefabricated panels and the walls should be no less than 10 centimeters, and high-strength mortar or special adhesive should be used to fill the gaps to ensure uniform load transfer.
