Hollow Prefabricated Panel House

Quản trị 18 tháng 9, 2026

A hollow prefabricated panel house is a type of building constructed primarily using prefabricated panels with hollow structures. The following provides an introduction from the aspects of definition, characteristics, history, existing problems, and policy handling:

Definition and Structural Characteristics: In a hollow prefabricated panel house, the prefabricated panels have hollow cross-sections and belong to concrete panels. Compared to solid panels of the same span, hollow prefabricated panels are lighter in weight and have a lower building height, making them more convenient for transportation and installation. For example, in the construction of small-span bridges, hollow prefabricated panels are widely used due to their characteristics. In the architectural field, prefabricated concrete hollow floor slabs are efficient prestressed components that can reduce the number of load-bearing structures such as columns and interior walls, providing greater freedom in architectural and structural design. They are widely applied in various types of buildings, including residential, commercial, educational, medical, and industrial buildings.

Historical Development: Prefabricated panel houses originated in the early 20th century. In China, most residential buildings constructed before 1985 adopted this type of structure. During this period, hollow prefabricated panel houses played a crucial role in meeting residents' housing needs and became one of the common architectural forms at the time.

Existing Problems: Currently, hollow prefabricated panel houses generally have some issues that cannot be ignored. Weak Earthquake Resistance: Due to their structural characteristics, these houses have relatively poor earthquake resistance and may pose a threat to the safety of occupants during natural disasters such as earthquakes. Poor Sound and Heat Insulation: In daily use, the sound and heat insulation effects of hollow prefabricated panel houses are inadequate, affecting the comfort of living. Limited Service Life: Generally, the service life of hollow prefabricated panel houses is about 30 to 50 years. Over time, the structural performance of the houses will gradually decline.

Policy Handling: In view of the problems with hollow prefabricated panel houses, China has implemented a renovation policy since 2022. For such houses, the focus is on repair and renovation to improve their safety, comfort, and functionality. Only when the houses meet the criteria for dilapidated buildings will they be demolished to ensure the safety of residents' living environments.
