Height of Container Houses

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

The height of container houses varies depending on their type and purpose, with common heights ranging from 2.591 meters to 2.896 meters. Customized or specially designed container houses may be even taller.

1. Standard Container House Heights The internationally recognized 20-foot standard container house (20GP) has an external height of 2.591 meters, with an internal usable height of approximately 2.268 meters to 2.35 meters. The 40-foot standard container house (40GP) shares the same external height as the 20-foot model, at 2.591 meters, but offers more spacious interiors due to its increased length. The 40-foot high-cube container (40HQ) elevates the external height to 2.896 meters, with an internal usable height of up to 2.655 meters, making it suitable for scenarios requiring higher ceilings, such as exhibition halls or residential spaces.

2. Domestic General Container House Heights In China, there are two common height standards for container houses:

  • General Standard Size: With a length of 6 meters, width of 3 meters, and height of 2.9 meters, these are suitable for construction sites, road construction, and other scenarios.
  • Export General Size: Also with a length of 6 meters but a width of 2.4 meters and height of 2.9 meters, these are primarily designed for export needs.

3. Small and Customized Container House Heights Some small container houses, designed to save materials or meet specific needs, may be shorter than standard models. For example, a small container house measuring 3 meters in length and width has a height of 2.8 meters and covers an area of only 9 square meters. Customized container houses offer greater flexibility in height, which can be adjusted according to customer requirements. Common heights range from 2.6 meters to 2.9 meters, with some special designs (such as two-story container houses with corridors or balconies) potentially being taller.

4. Special-Purpose Container House Heights Certain container houses designed for special purposes are significantly taller than standard models. For instance, a massive black container building constructed by stacking 16 standard containers four stories high has a single-container height of 3 meters, resulting in an overall building height of 12 meters. Additionally, packed container houses have an internal height of 2.5 meters, while some residential container houses sold in Beijing have a height of 2.7 meters, demonstrating the diversity in heights.
