Foreigners Installing Elevators in Prefab Houses

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

When foreigners install elevators in prefab houses (such as villas or self-built homes), a common practice is to install the elevator externally and connect it to the balcony, primarily for convenience, to save indoor space, and to facilitate escape in emergencies.

Structure and Materials for Externally Installed Elevators

When installing an elevator externally on a prefab house, the outer side of the elevator typically uses a metal frame, which is structurally stable and capable of withstanding the various forces during elevator operation. The middle section is connected with reinforced glass or steel-framed wooden panels, forming a small space. Reinforced glass not only provides good light transmission but also ensures adequate lighting inside the elevator, while its strength meets safety requirements; steel-framed wooden panels are relatively economical and practical, offering some decorative effect inside the elevator. Additionally, the elevator is equipped with multiple safety devices, such as safety gear, speed limiters, and buffers, to ensure safety during operation.

Installation of Elevator Power System

In some cases, the elevator power system uses a small motor fixed in a hollow position with a metal frame. The small motor is compact, moderately powered, and operates stably, meeting the operational needs of elevators in prefab houses. The fixed metal frame ensures the stability of the small motor, preventing it from shaking or shifting during operation, thus ensuring the normal operation of the elevator.

Handling Elevator Installation in Already Decorated Houses

If an elevator is to be installed in an already decorated house, part of the exterior roof packaging needs to be removed, and the inner beams are used for load-bearing. The inner beams are an important part of the house structure and have sufficient strength to bear the weight of the elevator. At the same time, the cut positions need to be reinforced to avoid affecting the main structure of the house. Reinforcement methods can include adding steel beams or steel plates to improve the load-bearing capacity of the cut positions and ensure the safety of the house.

Connection Methods for External Elevators and Old Buildings

For the connection methods between external elevators and old buildings, there are two options: hard connection and soft connection. Hard connection involves directly riveting the elevator to the old wall. This method is relatively simple in construction and low in cost but requires high strength from the old wall. If the old wall is not strong enough, it may lead to cracks at the connection points. Soft connection, on the other hand, uses an independent foundation with a gap from the old wall. This approach is more secure and reduces the impact of elevator operation on the old building but is more costly as it requires the construction of an additional independent foundation.
