Foreigner's Container House Renovation

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

Foreigners have a variety of ways to renovate container houses, covering aspects such as space expansion, functional optimization, environmental protection, energy efficiency, and personalized design.

  1. Space Expansion and Functional Optimization
Flexible space conversion is achieved through modular design. For example, in a project in Chile, a 20-foot double-wing expansion container was used. During transportation, the spaces on both sides were folded to save volume. After expansion, it formed an indoor area of approximately 36 square meters, with an internal layout of a complete residential function including two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. In domestic cases,打通 (connecting) two containers can create a flat layout with an integrated living and dining area, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a bathtub (approximately 100 square meters). Staggered stacking can also create leisure courtyards or passageways, improving ventilation and lighting.

  2. Structural Reinforcement and Anti-corrosion Treatment
To address the load-bearing and durability issues of container steel structures, C-shaped steel purlins are added during renovation to distribute the load, allowing the container bodies to remain stable even when stacked three layers high. After shot blasting for rust removal, a protective system is formed by spraying zinc-rich primer and polyurethane topcoat, maintaining a service life of over 15 years in environments with northwest wind and sand and temperature differences.

  3. Application of Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Technologies
To solve the cold and hot bridge effect of metal container walls, a broken-bridge lining structure is adopted: hard polyurethane foam is filled between the steel frame and the interior wall panels, and rubber insulation pads are installed at the connections of the keels, reducing heat exchange efficiency by about 40%. In winter without heating, the indoor temperature can be 8-10 degrees Celsius higher than the outside. In addition, solar panels are installed on the roof, and some materials are recycled, further reducing resource waste.

  4. Personalized and Comfortable Design
During the renovation, attention is paid to optimizing the details of the living experience. For example, a 15-square-meter forest container home uses a foldable custom bed that serves as a sofa during the day and unfolds into a double bed at night. The kitchen and bedroom walls are filled with cabinets to improve storage efficiency. Solar panels are installed on the roof to solve the electricity problem, and lifting rods are set at the four corners to ensure sufficient light and ventilation.
