Foreign Container House Construction

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

Foreign container house construction primarily adopts a modular construction approach, offering advantages such as efficiency, environmental friendliness, flexibility, and a wide range of application scenarios.

Construction Method

Container house construction centers around modularity, dividing the entire building into several independent modules. Over 80% of the work, including the main structure, interior decoration, and installation of water and electricity pipelines, is completed in the factory. For example, the modular houses produced by China Construction Integration Building Intelligent Manufacturing (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. for an Australian project integrated water, electricity, decoration, and even soft furnishings in the factory. Upon arrival at the site, they only require connection to water and electricity for occupancy. Modules are connected to the foundation using high-strength bolts, enabling the overall structure to withstand strong typhoons and earthquakes, meeting local building codes.

Advantages and Characteristics

  • Efficiency: Combining factory prefabrication with on-site assembly significantly shortens the construction period. For instance, a British merchant purchased 63 modular elderly care apartments, with the entire process from shipment to completion of hoisting taking only two weeks. The MRDC hotel project in Papua New Guinea, which would have taken 14-18 months with traditional construction, was completed in just seven months using a modular approach.
  • Environmental Friendliness: On-site assembly reduces noise and construction waste, highlighting its low-carbon advantages. Factory operations enhance product quality control precision and eliminate the need for workers to engage in open-air high-altitude work.
  • Flexibility: Modules can be repeatedly disassembled, reassembled, and relocated to adapt to different scenarios. For example, a container hotel in the Czech Republic is designed as a seasonal movable building, meeting environmental and self-sufficiency requirements.
  • Economy: Labor and material costs are significantly reduced. In Europe and the United States, where traditional construction workers command high hourly wages, a modular construction site typically requires only about 45 permanent personnel, far fewer than the 80-120 on traditional sites. Standardized factory cutting reduces steel waste to 3%-5%, lower than the 8%-12% on traditional sites.

Application Scenarios

Container houses have been widely applied in residential, commercial, and public facility sectors. For example, Shenzhen enterprises supply fully furnished residential products to the North American market; Starbucks uses containers to build coffee shops; the Nagoya Asian Games in Japan utilized container houses to form the Asian Games Village; Zaozhuang City in Shandong Province, China, created a characteristic homestay scenic area using container houses. Additionally, in emergency medical facility construction, container houses play a crucial role due to their rapid deployment capabilities.
