Export Container House Sizes

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

The common sizes of export container houses are mainly divided into standard sizes and customized sizes, with specific specifications varying according to usage and design requirements.

I. Standard Sizes The internationally used dry cargo containers (DRY CONTAINER) are the main basic types for export container houses, and their standard sizes are as follows:

  1. 20-foot container: The external dimensions are 6.058 meters in length, 2.438 meters in width, and 2.591 meters in height. The internal usable dimensions are approximately 5.89 meters in length, 2.35 meters in width, and 2.39 meters in height, with a volume of about 33 cubic meters. Such containers are commonly used for single-person offices, dormitories, or small shops. For example, Yashun Light Steel produced a 20-foot double-wing expandable container for a project in Chile. During transportation, the spaces on both sides are folded in, and after expansion, the indoor area can reach 36 square meters.
  2. 40-foot container: The external dimensions are 12.192 meters in length, 2.438 meters in width, and 2.591 meters in height. The internal usable dimensions are approximately 12.03 meters in length, 2.35 meters in width, and 2.39 meters in height, with a volume of about 68 cubic meters. Such containers are suitable for being divided into multi-functional spaces or multi-person dormitories, for example, they can be designed as a two-bedroom and one-living-room residential module.
  3. 40-foot high cube container: Based on the 40-foot standard container, the height is increased. The external height is 2.896 meters, and the internal height is 2.69 meters, with a larger volume. It is suitable for scenarios with height requirements, such as exhibition halls or houses with lofts.

II. Customized Sizes According to project requirements, the sizes of container houses can be flexibly adjusted:

  1. Non-standard lengths: Common customized lengths include 3 meters, 6 meters, 9 meters, 12 meters, etc. For example, a standard 3-meter by 6-meter residential container is widely used for temporary construction sites.
  2. Non-standard widths and heights: The width can be selected from 2.5 meters, 3 meters, 4 meters, etc., and the height can be selected from 2.6 meters to 2.9 meters or even higher to meet special needs.
  3. Functional module combinations: By assembling multiple standard or customized containers, larger composite functional spaces can be achieved, such as medical epidemic prevention stations and conference rooms.

III. Special Design Types

  1. Double-wing expandable container: During transportation, the spaces on both sides are folded in, and after expansion, the usable area is increased. For example, the 20-foot double-wing expandable container in the Chile project expands to 36 square meters.
  2. Packing-box container house: It adopts a galvanized steel structure and modular design. The internal dimensions, for example, are 5.88 meters in length, 2.84 meters in width, and 2.5 meters in height, suitable for rapidly deployed temporary housing.

Selection Suggestions: The size of export container houses should comprehensively consider transportation restrictions (such as the loading specifications of sea freight containers), usage functions (such as residence, office, or storage), and budget. Standard sizes have lower costs and strong versatility, while customized sizes can better meet personalized needs.
