Container Partition Renovation House

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

Renovating container partitions into houses is feasible and offers numerous advantages and innovative points.

I. Feasibility Basis for Renovation The core components of containers are steel structural frames and enclosure panels, providing a solid foundation for renovation. Their physical properties enable them to withstand certain external forces and pressures, and with reasonable design and reinforcement, they can meet the structural requirements for residential housing. For example, the traditional container's bottom frame has large longitudinal beam spacing, resulting in insufficient floor stiffness for direct habitation. However, by adding C-shaped steel purlins between the bottom beams, the load can be evenly distributed to the main beams, allowing the container to maintain structural stability even when stacked three layers high.

II. Advantages of Renovation

  1. Environmental Protection and Recycling: The core value of container houses lies in the full lifecycle recycling of materials. Each standard 20-foot container consumes approximately 1.2 tons of steel, while the carbon emissions from a concrete temporary house of the same area built in one go are 2.3 times those of a container house. Moreover, when the campsite is relocated or the project ends, container houses can be hoisted as a whole to a new site, with disassembly and assembly loss rates controlled within 5%, significantly reducing construction waste generation.
  2. High Construction Efficiency: Modular construction brings house-building into the factory assembly line, where most processes, including the main structure and water and electricity pipelines, are completed internally before being transported to the project site for assembly like building blocks. For instance, a structural modular smart factory in Guangdong can produce up to 50 modules per day, with a production capacity ten times that of similar factories in North America.
  3. Personalization and Flexibility: Personalized renovations can be carried out according to different needs. For example, multiple containers can be combined into two- or three-story office areas, addressing structural mechanics issues during vertical stacking; internal decoration design can also be customized to meet different residential or functional requirements.

III. Key Points for Renovation

  1. Structural Optimization: It is essential to address the corrosion prevention and load-bearing optimization of steel structures, such as shot blasting the container surface to remove rust and then spraying protective paint to increase the service life of the steel.
  2. Thermal Insulation: To counteract the thermal bridge effect of metal container walls, a broken-bridge lining structure can be adopted to reduce heat exchange efficiency between the interior and exterior of the container.
  3. Process Details: Attention should be paid to process details such as panel cutting accuracy and bending angles to ensure the airtightness of the container and reduce issues like dust infiltration.
