Knowledge Points of Container Mobile Houses

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

Container mobile houses are modular building products that use containers as basic structural modules, which are movable and reusable, featuring standardization and high flexibility.

Definition and Structure

Container mobile houses take standardized containers as basic units, adopting steel frame structures and being constructed through bolt connections. The modular container houses have fixed lengths, widths, and heights. The unit structure of the container body is welded from special section steels, and the containers are connected with bolts to ensure a stable structure and convenient installation.

Classification

According to structural differences, container mobile houses can be divided into three categories:

  1. Traditional cargo container-modified container houses: Based on the modification of discarded cargo containers, they have lower costs but limited spatial flexibility.
  2. Brand-new welded container mobile houses: Welded with brand-new steel materials, they have higher structural strength and are suitable for long-term use scenarios.
  3. Demountable container mobile houses: They can be quickly assembled and disassembled through detachable connectors, facilitating transportation and reuse.

Features

  1. Convenient transportation and installation: Factory-prefabricated production supports rapid assembly, making them especially suitable for units that frequently change construction sites.
  2. Sturdy and durable: The steel frame structure design endows them with strong earthquake resistance and deformation resistance, along with excellent wind resistance and load-bearing capacity.
  3. Excellent sealing and thermal insulation performance: Strict manufacturing processes ensure water tightness, and the wall design takes into account both sound insulation and thermal insulation requirements.
  4. Flexible combination: Based on standard chassis, functional spaces such as conference rooms, dormitories, and kitchens can be derived. The usable area can be flexibly adjusted through extended designs.
  5. Outstanding cost-effectiveness: They have high disassembly and assembly efficiency and can be reused. During ocean transportation, multiple houses can be packed into the volume of a single independent container, significantly reducing transportation costs.

Application Scenarios

They are widely used in temporary office spaces, homestays in tourist attractions, intelligent waste stations, and other scenarios. In harsh construction environments such as the mining and oil industries, the houses can be moved as a whole without on-site installation, adapting to project progress requirements.

Development History

After the standardization of containers in the mid-20th century, modification practices gradually emerged. The Container City I project in London, UK, in 2000 promoted social awareness. In 2013, Brighton, UK, first used them as a solution to the housing crisis. China started in the late 20th century, evolving from the modification of idle containers at coastal ports to large-scale urbanization applications. In recent years, it has connected with global market demands through the Belt and Road Initiative.
