Container Mobile Houses Abroad

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

Container mobile houses have formed a mature market abroad, and China, as a major exporter, has become an important participant in the global construction industry with its modular construction technology, low-carbon attributes, and flexible application scenarios.

1. Technological Advantages and Production Models

Chinese container mobile houses adopt modular construction technology, dividing the entire building into independent modules. The main structure, water and electricity pipelines, interior decoration, and equipment installation (such as bathrooms and cabinets) are completed in the factory with an accuracy of 1-2 millimeters. For example, the modular construction production base of China Construction Steel Structure Jiangsu Co., Ltd. can produce 50 modules per day through fully automated production lines and robot collaboration, with a production capacity ten times that of similar factories in North America. This model of 'factory-built housing and on-site assembly' shortens the construction period by 60%-70% compared to traditional methods, significantly reduces on-site construction noise and construction waste, and meets the green construction requirements of overseas markets.

2. Market Demand and Export Data

The overseas market demand continues to grow. In the first half of 2026, China's total export value of prefabricated buildings under HS code 9406 reached $2.79 billion, a year-on-year increase of 45%, with steel-structured modular houses being the main category. There is an increasing focus on the recyclability, cross-border compliance, and low-carbon attributes of detachable and relocatable container houses in engineering camps, cultural tourism, emergency response, and other fields. Products with multiple reuse capabilities and cross-border qualifications account for more than 60% of the orders from leading manufacturers. For example, the modular elderly care apartment project of China Construction Science and Engineering Corporation in the UK took only two weeks to complete on-site hoisting, and the overall project period of the MRDC Hotel project in Papua New Guinea was shortened to seven months, saving half the time compared to traditional construction.

3. Application Scenarios and Flexibility

Container mobile houses can be adapted to multiple scenarios through modular assembly, facade customization, and interior functional transformation:

  • Residential Sector: For example, the Chile project uses a 20-foot double-wing expansion container, which, when expanded, has an indoor area of about 36 square meters and can be designed as a two-bedroom, one-living-room house or a storage space, balancing transportation efficiency and usable area.
  • Commercial and Cultural Tourism: Modular hotels, schools, hospitals, and other projects can be quickly implemented to meet temporary or permanent needs.
  • Data Centers: CIMC provides prefabricated modular data centers for AI computing infrastructure, reducing the construction period by 50% and improving resource utilization.

4. Compliance Certification and Low-Carbon Attributes

Chinese manufacturers have opened up high-end markets through international certifications (such as CSA W47.1 welding certification and CSA A277 modular product certification), and their products comply with overseas building codes (such as typhoon and earthquake resistance requirements). At the same time, the low-carbon cycle throughout the entire life cycle has become a trend. The average number of disassembly and reuse times for leading compliant products reaches more than eight times, and construction waste emissions are reduced by about 90%, aligning with global circular economy policies.
