Container House Welding Materials
For container houses, steel is mainly used as the structural support material for welding. Common welding materials need to be selected according to the type of steel and the welding process, such as manual arc welding electrodes and gas-shielded welding wires.

Structural Materials and Welding Requirements for Container Houses
Container houses primarily use steel as their main structural material, including channel steel, angle steel, and steel plates. These materials have high strength and corrosion resistance, forming the basis of the welding process. For example, channel steel is used for welding the main crossbeams around the top and bottom of the container. The thickness of the columns should be no less than 1mm, and they need to be shaped using professional equipment or purchased as finished products. The weldability of steel directly affects the selection of welding materials, which should match the chemical composition, mechanical properties, and welding process requirements of the base metal.
Common Types of Welding Materials
Manual Arc Welding Electrodes
Suitable for on-site repairs or small-scale welding, electrodes should be selected according to the type of steel. For example, J422 electrodes can be used for low-carbon steel structures. The deposited metal has a tensile strength that matches the base metal, with good operability and suitability for all-position welding.Gas-Shielded Welding Wires
Carbon dioxide gas-shielded welding (CO₂ welding) or mixed gas-shielded welding (MIG/MAG welding) commonly use solid wires, such as ER50-6 wires, which are suitable for welding low-carbon steel and low-alloy steel. They offer high welding efficiency, good penetration, and an aesthetically pleasing finish, widely used in the welding of container frames.Flux-Cored Wires
Flux-cored wires combine the advantages of solid wires and electrodes, offering high welding efficiency and minimal spatter, suitable for automated welding. For example, T50-6 flux-cored wires can be used for welding the corrugated plates of containers, providing high deposition efficiency and strong resistance to porosity, suitable for high-speed welding of thin plates.
Matching Welding Processes with Materials
Welding for container houses requires strict control of process parameters, such as weld penetration, leg height, and diagonal errors of the container body. High-end manufacturers use CNC plasma cutting and fully automatic welding processes, controlling the flatness error of the top and bottom frames within ±2mm to reduce welding deformation. Welding materials need to match the process; for example, fully automatic welding processes require wires with low spatter and high wire-feeding stability to ensure welding quality.
Selection of Welding Materials for Special Scenarios
For high-end customization needs, such as homestay renovations, container houses must meet requirements for thermal insulation, sound insulation, and fire resistance. Welding materials need to be compatible with new materials like basalt wool color-steel composite panels to ensure weld tightness and prevent water leakage. Additionally, in coastal or high-humidity areas, more corrosion-resistant welding materials, such as stainless steel wires or special welding materials for galvanized steel, should be selected to extend the service life of the houses.
