Thermal Insulation Panels for Container Houses

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

Common thermal insulation panels for container houses include polystyrene boards, polyurethane foam boards, rock wool boards, etc. Some special products, such as thickened aluminum foil phenolic foam boards and fire-resistant B1-grade phenolic foam insulation decorative panels, can also be used in specific scenarios. Their core function is to reduce heat transfer through materials with low thermal conductivity, enhancing the energy efficiency and comfort of the houses.

Characteristics of Mainstream Thermal Insulation Materials

  1. Polystyrene Boards (EPS/XPS)
Polystyrene boards are divided into expanded polystyrene boards (EPS) and extruded polystyrene boards (XPS). The former has a thermal conductivity of approximately 0.038-0.042 W/(m·K), while the latter is lower (0.028-0.034 W/(m·K)). XPS, with its dense closed-cell structure and high compressive strength, is commonly used as insulation for the walls or roofs of container houses, effectively blocking external temperature fluctuations.

  2. Polyurethane Foam Boards (PU)
Polyurethane foam boards have a thermal conductivity as low as 0.022-0.028 W/(m·K), making them a common choice for refrigerated container houses. For example, a 6-meter refrigerated container may use a 7-centimeter polyurethane insulation board in the middle of its wall panels, combined with 12-centimeter-thick insulation layers on the top and bottom, to maintain a low internal temperature and reduce heat loss. With a closed-cell rate exceeding 95%, they offer excellent waterproof performance, suitable for humid or large temperature-difference scenarios.

  3. Rock Wool Boards
Made from basalt, rock wool boards have a thermal conductivity of approximately 0.036-0.044 W/(m·K). Although their thermal insulation performance is slightly weaker than that of polyurethane, they achieve a Class A fire rating (non-combustible) and offer significant sound absorption and noise reduction effects. They are commonly used in container houses with high fire safety requirements, such as temporary office areas or crowded places.

Special Thermal Insulation Products

  1. Thickened Aluminum Foil Phenolic Foam Boards
Phenolic foam itself has a low thermal conductivity (0.020-0.030 W/(m·K)). The addition of a thickened aluminum foil layer enhances its ability to reflect thermal radiation, creating a dual effect of “thermal insulation + reflection,” suitable for container houses in high-temperature or strong sunlight regions.

  2. Fire-Resistant B1-Grade Phenolic Foam Insulation Decorative Panels
These materials are made by adding flame retardants to phenolic foam, achieving a B1-grade difficult-to-burn standard. Their surfaces are integrated with decorative layers, allowing them to be used directly as wall panels, combining thermal insulation, fire resistance, and aesthetic appeal.

  3. Export Integrated House Thermal SIP Panels
SIP panels (Structural Insulated Panels) consist of two layers of structural panels (such as OSB boards) with polyurethane or polystyrene foam filled in between. They have low thermal conductivity and high structural strength, commonly used in export-oriented container houses for quick assembly and compliance with international energy efficiency standards.

Selection Recommendations

For extreme thermal insulation needs (such as refrigeration scenarios), prioritize polyurethane foam boards; for fire safety concerns, rock wool boards or fire-resistant phenolic foam boards are more suitable; for general living scenarios, consider cost and performance comprehensively, choosing polystyrene boards or SIP panels. For special environments (such as high temperatures or humidity), consider thickened aluminum foil phenolic foam boards to enhance performance.
