Illustration of Container House Structure

The structure of container houses mainly includes the conceptual design structure proposed by a Georgian designer and the structure of expandable residential container houses. Additionally, container houses can be classified into different types based on their structures. Here is a detailed introduction:

A Georgian designer once proposed a conceptual design that uses two complete shipping containers, cleverly combined and externally packaged, to create a cool independent container residence. The primary building materials for this design are two shipping containers, whether new or used. This design fully leverages the structural characteristics of the containers themselves, transforming them into an independent living space with residential functionality through reasonable layout and modification, demonstrating the innovation and uniqueness of container house design.

The structure of expandable residential container houses is relatively complex and well-developed. The steel frame section uses galvanized pipes as the main framework, complemented by beams and columns in the intermediate rooms. This design endows the house with exceptional load-bearing capacity and stability, ensuring the safety of occupants. The walls are constructed with sandwich-structured thermal insulation panels, which not only effectively isolate temperature, keeping the interior warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather, but also block external noise, providing occupants with a quiet living environment. The floor employs a multi-layer structure consisting of a base plate, floor covering, and bottom cotton strips, ensuring both flatness and durability while enhancing comfort. The roof features a ceiling with an additional thermal insulation layer, further enhancing the house's thermal insulation performance. The doors and windows are made of double-glazed laminated glass, which offers excellent sound insulation, thermal insulation, and safety, effectively improving the living experience.

From a structural classification perspective, container houses can be divided into three categories: traditional cargo container-modified container houses, newly welded prefabricated container houses, and detachable container houses. Traditional cargo container-modified container houses are repurposed from discarded cargo containers, offering relatively low costs but potentially limited by the original container's structure and dimensions. Newly welded prefabricated container houses are designed and welded according to specific needs, featuring more flexible and diverse structures to meet different usage requirements. Detachable container houses, on the other hand, are characterized by their ease of transportation and installation, making them suitable for scenarios requiring frequent relocation.
