Container houses come in a variety of sizes, with common specifications covering multiple combinations of length, width, and height to meet different scenario requirements.

I. Common Standard Sizes

Dry cargo containers widely used internationally have clearly defined standard sizes. The internal dimensions of a 20-foot container are 5898mm×2352mm×2390mm (length×width×height); for a 40-foot container, it is 12024mm×2352mm×2390mm; the internal volume of a 40-foot high-cube container is 12024mm×2352mm×2680mm; and for a 45-foot high-cube container, it is 13580mm×2340mm×2680mm. In addition, there are 20-foot open-top containers with an internal volume of 5890mm×2320mm×2310mm and 40-foot open-top containers with an internal volume of 12010mm×2330mm×2150mm. These standard-sized container houses are mostly directly converted from maritime containers and were initially used for temporary building scenarios such as construction site accommodations, offices, or exhibition halls.

II. Flexible Custom Sizes

To meet different needs, container houses offer greater flexibility in size. For Apple Pods, the conventional size for domestic trade is 3 meters×6 meters, while the size range for foreign trade extends from 5.8 meters×2.2 meters to 11.5 meters×2.2 meters, corresponding to the main models of 20-foot and 40-foot containers. Each pod has a standard width of 3 meters, and the length can be selected as 3 meters, 6 meters, 9 meters, or 12 meters, supporting various arrangements and stacking combinations to meet the needs from single-room homestays to multi-functional spaces. For duplex container houses, such as when three 40-foot containers are joined together, the size reaches 11.8m×6.75m×2.8m, with a usable area of 80 square meters. Expandable container houses have a combined size of 3m×6m×3m (width×length×height) and an expanded size of 5.5m×6m×3m (width×length×height), with the indoor area expanding from 18 square meters to 33 square meters.

III. Special Modified Sizes

Some specially modified container houses feature more creative and personalized sizes. For example, a 15-square-meter container home in the forest, although small in area, achieves multiple functions through a deformable open design to meet daily living needs. There is also an 18-square-meter container with a small two-story design, offering super-strong storage capabilities and efficient space utilization.
