Container House Roof Waterproof Design

Quản trị 16 tháng 9, 2026

The waterproof design of container house roofs requires the comprehensive application of multiple protective measures to achieve efficient waterproofing through structural, drainage, sealing, and material optimization.

1. Structural Waterproof Design The core of waterproofing for container house roofs lies in constructing a continuous waterproof barrier. The roof surface needs to be covered with a dedicated waterproof layer, typically using high weather-resistant waterproof membranes or coatings, directly applied to the container surface. For example, after rough processing, the original steel plate of the container can retain the protective layer from the steel mill as the basic waterproof layer, with additional sealing strips and drainage channels forming a composite protection. This design effectively prevents rainwater penetration by combining physical barriers with material properties. Additionally, the roof slope design should be reasonable, generally recommending a slope of no less than 5% to ensure natural flow of rainwater into the drainage system and reduce the risk of water accumulation.

2. Drainage System Optimization Drainage efficiency directly affects waterproofing effectiveness. The roof should be designed with integrated drainage facilities, including drainage channels formed by main beam profiles, corner downspouts, and ground drainage channels. Drainage channels should be arranged longitudinally along the roof surface, with depth and width meeting rainwater flow requirements to ensure rapid convergence of rainwater into the downspouts. Downspouts are recommended to use large-diameter PVC rigid pipes (diameter ≥ 110mm), which have smooth inner walls and strong corrosion resistance, avoiding blockages and accelerating rainwater drainage. Ground drainage channels need to connect with the downspouts to direct rainwater away from the building foundation and prevent seepage back.

3. Sealing Performance Enhancement Seams are weak points for waterproofing when container modules are assembled. Double protection with special sealing strips and sealants should be applied at the connection points:

  • Sealing Strips: Select ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM) or silicone materials with good aging resistance and elasticity, fixed to the seams with pressing devices to form the first sealing barrier;
  • Sealants: Fill polyurethane sealant on the outside of the strips to fill small gaps and enhance tightness. For multi-module connection nodes, special pressing devices should be used to ensure tight adhesion between the strips and the container surface, preventing sealing failure due to vibration or temperature differences.

4. Material Water Resistance Improvement Material selection should balance structural strength and waterproof performance. The roof covering layer is recommended to use galvanized steel sheets or aluminum alloy sheets, with fluorocarbon coating treatment on the surface to enhance corrosion resistance and self-cleaning properties. Internal wall panels can use rock wool cores with a water absorption rate of over 97%, effectively resisting rainwater erosion. Additionally, all metal components should undergo hot-dip galvanizing treatment to prevent corrosion-induced structural damage and leakage risks.

Through these measures, the container house roof can form a three-dimensional waterproof system of 'blocking-diverting-sealing-durability', significantly enhancing its anti-permeability and service life.
