Container House Roof Sealing Method

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

The sealing of a container house roof can be carried out according to the following steps:

  1. Prepare materials
Select a reliable and compatible sealant for the container material, prioritizing products with good waterproofing and weather resistance. For example, silicone sealants or polyurethane sealants can effectively resist ultraviolet rays, temperature changes, and rain erosion, extending the repair lifespan. If the roof is made of metal, ensure the sealant is compatible with the metal to avoid corrosion or detachment.

  2. Clean the leaking area
Thorough cleaning is crucial for ensuring the adhesion of the sealant. First, sand or wire brush the leaking area to remove surface rust, dirt, and loose particles. Then, use a dry cloth or hairdryer to remove any remaining dust and moisture, ensuring the surface is dry and smooth. If there is oil on the roof, use a specialized cleaner to avoid affecting the curing of the sealant. Note: After cleaning, wait at least 30 minutes to ensure the surface is completely dry before proceeding to the next step.

  3. Apply the sealant
Apply the sealant evenly over the leaking area, covering all cracks and holes. Maintain a consistent thickness (recommended 2-3 millimeters) to avoid local thinning leading to leakage or excessive thickness affecting curing. For wider cracks, fill them in multiple layers, pressing each layer firmly with a scraper to ensure the sealant fully penetrates. If there are seams on the roof, apply the sealant at a 45-degree angle along the seams to form a continuous waterproof layer. Wear protective gloves and a mask during operation to avoid skin contact or inhalation of harmful gases.

  4. Wait for drying
The drying time of the sealant depends on the product type and environmental conditions. Silicone sealants typically require 24-48 hours to fully cure, while polyurethane sealants require 12-24 hours. Keep the environment ventilated during drying to avoid contamination of the applied area by rain or dust. If the humidity is high, extend the drying time appropriately or use heating equipment to accelerate curing (follow product instructions). Do not touch or step on the repaired area before it is dry to avoid damaging the waterproof layer.

  5. Check the results
After drying, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the repaired area. Confirm the waterproofing effect through a water spray test (simulating rainfall) or by observing for water stains. If local leakage is found, remove the original sealant and reapply it. If the repair area is large or the leakage is severe, it is recommended to contact professional maintenance personnel to ensure structural safety.

Additional notes: The operating environment should be dry and ventilated to prevent the sealant from getting damp and deteriorating. If there is extensive damage or rust on the roof, perform rust removal and anti-corrosion treatment before applying the sealant.
