Container House Renovation

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

The renovation of container houses requires a comprehensive consideration of structural design, functional adaptation, cost optimization, and compliance, achieving efficient renovation by combining the characteristics of modular construction.

1. Structural Design Optimization

The renovation of container houses must prioritize solving structural stability issues. The traditional container's bottom frame has large longitudinal beam spacing, which can lead to insufficient floor stiffness when used directly as living space. Therefore, C-shaped steel purlins need to be installed between the bottom beams to distribute the load and ensure structural stability when stacked up to three floors. Meanwhile, the anti-corrosion treatment of steel structures is crucial. Adopting a protective system of shot blasting for rust removal followed by spraying zinc-rich primer and polyurethane topcoat can maintain the effective lifespan of steel for over 15 years in environments with wind and sand and temperature differences in northwest China. For wind and earthquake resistance requirements, the all-steel structural frame has been tested on-site to withstand strong winds of up to Level 12 and has an earthquake resistance rating of Level 8, meeting the requirements of the GB50011-2010 Code for Seismic Design of Buildings.

2. Functional Adaptation and Space Utilization

The renovation should flexibly adjust the functional layout according to the usage scenario. For example, in emergency support scenarios, the priority is to meet the demand for rapid deployment. Foldable containers, when folded, have a volume that is only 1/5 to 1/4 of their expanded state, allowing a single truck to carry 15-20 sets of products, significantly reducing transportation costs. For long-term on-site engineering camps, modularly designed container dormitories support on-demand splicing and combination, with internal partitions that can be quickly adjusted to meet the needs of double-occupancy dormitories, offices, or meeting spaces. In commercial temporary space scenarios, it is necessary to enhance space renovation efficiency, such as completing the layout adjustment of a pop-up store within 2 hours.

3. Cost Optimization Strategies

Cost control should run through the entire renovation cycle. In the transportation phase, choosing containers with a smaller folded volume can reduce single-trip transportation costs. For example, the transportation cost per set of Suzhou Zhongnan products is 25% lower than that of Shengda products. In the warehousing phase, folded containers occupy only 18%-25% of the space of their expanded state, allowing a 100㎡ warehouse to store 60-80 sets of products, providing significant long-term storage advantages. In the installation phase, modular design shortens the installation time per set to 4 hours, improving efficiency by over 50% compared to traditional methods and significantly reducing labor costs.

4. Compliance and Sustainability

The renovation must comply with building codes and environmental protection requirements. For example, container houses need to pass structural reliability tests that simulate extreme conditions such as strong coastal winds and seismic zone vibrations. In terms of environmental protection, the full-life-cycle recyclability of steel reduces carbon emissions by 56.5% compared to concrete buildings, with disassembly and assembly loss rates controlled within 5%. Additionally, an integrated self-circulating sewage system can achieve a 70% self-sufficiency rate in water resources, suitable for wild camp needs.
