Container House Renovation for Winter
Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026
Container houses can achieve warmth during winter through reasonable design and renovation, which can be realized in the following aspects:

I. Structure and Material Selection
- Thickening of the insulation layer: Add high-efficiency insulation materials such as polystyrene foam boards, rock wool boards, or glass wool to the inner and outer walls of the container to form a continuous insulation layer and reduce heat conduction. For example, a cultural tourism project in Northeast China adopted a thickened insulation layer to effectively withstand low winter temperatures.
- Enhanced sealing: Use double-layer sealing, waterproofing, and cold-proof techniques, focusing on treating the seams of doors and windows and the joints of walls to prevent the infiltration of cold air. For example, during the pre-embedding of electrical conduits in container houses in Jishishan County, Gansu, the sealing design was optimized simultaneously to avoid air leakage and frost formation.
- Wind and snow resistance design: For heavy snow and strong wind weather, use reinforced steel structural frames, increase the strength of container connection points, and set up diagonal support structures. For example, container houses deployed after the earthquake in Xigaze, Tibet, were fixed with steel cables and concrete piers to ensure stability in an environment with temperatures ranging from minus 18 to 20 degrees Celsius.
II. Heating and Energy Systems
- Flexible heating solutions: Choose electric heaters, air conditioners, or underfloor heating systems according to climatic conditions. For example, the renovated shelter in Beijing's Qicai Jiayuan adopted air conditioning for heating due to structural limitations, while projects in Northeast China can be equipped with scenic windows and complete water and electricity systems to support the connection of various heating equipment.
- New energy supplementation: Install solar panels in areas with sufficient sunlight to supply power for lighting and low-power electrical appliances, reducing dependence on traditional energy sources. For example, some container homestays reduce operating costs through photovoltaic systems.
III. Functional Optimization and Operation and Maintenance
- Ventilation and moisture prevention: Install mechanical ventilation devices or adjustable air vents to balance indoor air quality and insulation needs. For example, the resettlement site in Gansu avoided air pollution caused by coal-fired heating by pre-installing smoke exhaust holes and ventilation ducts.
- Modular expansion: Adopt standardized interface designs to facilitate the addition or removal of insulation modules or functional units according to needs. For example, container homestays in camping bases in Northeast China can adjust their layouts at any time to meet operational needs in different seasons.
- Regular maintenance and inspection: Focus on checking the integrity of the insulation layer, the aging of sealing strips, and the efficiency of heating equipment, and promptly replace damaged components. For example, the rescue project in Tibet optimized rapid assembly and night construction to shorten the delivery cycle of container houses and reduce the impact of low temperatures on construction.
