Container House Renovation Flowchart
Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026
The renovation process for container houses can be divided into five stages: preliminary planning, structural renovation, basic decoration, soft decoration optimization, and post-maintenance. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Preliminary Planning and Site Preparation
- Purpose and Site Confirmation: Clarify the intended function after renovation (e.g., residential, studio) and select a compliant site. Verify land properties (e.g., rural homesteads require approval), fire safety, and urban management restrictions to avoid illegal construction.
- Container Selection: Choose the size based on needs (20-foot or 40-foot recommended). Inspect used containers for rust and deformation; new containers are more expensive but offer stable quality.
- Pipeline Embedding: Plan the layout of water and electricity pipelines, coordinate temporary pipeline connections, and ensure convenience for subsequent construction.
2. Structural Renovation and Reinforcement
- Load-Bearing Structure Protection: Avoid altering the load-bearing frame of the container randomly. Confirm stress points before cutting doors and windows to prevent structural instability.
- Opening and Reinforcement: Use a cutting machine to precisely open windows and doorways, and seal edges with waterproof glue. For multiple container connections, use angle steel welding for reinforcement. For two-story structures, add load-bearing supports to ensure safety.
- Roof Renovation: Replace corrugated steel sheets with transparent skylights (requires professional welding) and ensure proper waterproofing to prevent leakage.
3. Basic Decoration
- Waterproofing: Focus on treating areas around doors and windows, joints, and roof gutters. Replace sealant every 5-7 years to prevent rust.
- Insulation and Lighting: Install internal insulation layers on walls and roofs, and choose triple-glazed windows to enhance thermal insulation. Increase natural lighting through large floor-to-ceiling windows, skylights, or glass partitions.
- Facade Beautification: Apply paint, themed murals, or glass curtain walls to cover the container surface, reducing the industrial feel and enhancing aesthetics.
4. Soft Decoration and Functional Optimization
- Space Utilization: Use foldable beds, tables, and integrated cabinets to enhance space flexibility. Design customizable foldable beds for bedrooms that can transform into sofas when partially folded.
- Detail Design: Use rounded edges in bathrooms and integrate storage cabinets. Add wooden veneers to the inner side of container doors for a unified interior color scheme. Reserve sockets and network interfaces on walls to meet modern needs.
5. Post-Maintenance
- Rust Prevention: Grind and apply epoxy primer and topcoat to cut and welded areas. Inspect welds, corners, and other rust-prone parts annually and touch up paint as needed.
- Moisture Control: Elevate the container bottom on pile foundations to avoid direct ground contact and prevent moisture intrusion. Use dehumidifiers indoors to maintain a dry environment.
Note: For long-term residence, obtain building approval according to local requirements and provide structural drawings to ensure compliance.
