Joint Treatment of Container Houses

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

Joint treatment of container houses should focus on waterproof sealing and structural reinforcement, with core measures including the application of sealants, strengthening of structural connections, and regular maintenance.

1. Application of Sealants and Material Selection

The joint treatment of container houses centers on waterproof sealing, requiring the use of specialized sealants for different parts. Key nodes such as around doors and windows, container body joints, and roof gutters should use silicone or polyurethane sealants with strong weather resistance. Their elasticity can accommodate minor structural deformations and prevent rainwater infiltration. Sealants need to be replaced regularly, with reapplication required every 5-7 years, and the cycle should be shortened in humid or salt-spray environments. During construction, the joint surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned to ensure no oil, rust, or old sealant remains. After application, the sealant should be compacted and the joint trimmed to form a continuous sealing layer.

2. Structural Connection Reinforcement and Node Treatment

The joints of container houses must balance structural stability and sealing. Welded container bodies should have their weld quality inspected, with cutting or welding notches ground and coated with epoxy primer and topcoat for rust prevention. Bolted container bodies should ensure all connection nodes are tightened, with regular checks for bolt loosening. For high-stress areas (such as the contact surface between the bottom beam and foundation pads), thin steel plates should be added to prevent local suspension, which could cause vibrations or abnormal noises. For container body joints, a double-seal design can be adopted: the inner layer filled with waterproof tape or butyl mastic, and the outer layer covered with sealant for multiple protections.

3. Regular Maintenance and Detail Management

Joint treatment should be included in a long-term maintenance plan. Annually, roof leaves should be cleared to prevent water accumulation and corrosion of the steel plate. Weld seams, corners, and bottoms, which are prone to rust, should be inspected, with small rust spots ground and repainted immediately. For joints exposed to the elements for long periods, metal covers or waterproof membranes can be used for secondary protection to extend the seal's lifespan. Additionally, heavy objects should not be stacked on joints, and drilling operations should be avoided to prevent damage to the sealing structure.

4. Joint Treatment in Special Scenarios

In humid areas or those with large temperature variations (such as Yiqi), the moisture resistance and deformation resistance of joints should be enhanced. For example, a waterproof barrier can be installed between the container body bottom and foundation, or an independent foundation can be used to elevate the container body and prevent direct contact with moisture. For joints, expansion allowances can be reserved to prevent sealant cracking due to temperature changes.
