Foundation Dimensions of Container Houses

Quản trị 16 tháng 9, 2026

The foundation dimensions of container houses vary depending on their type and purpose, commonly covering standard containers, site residential containers, domestic basic models, and export containers, among others. Here is a detailed classification:

Standard container dimensions serve as the foundational reference for container house design, coming in three specifications: 20-foot, 40-foot, and 40-foot high-cube. The external dimensions of a 20-foot container are 6.06 meters in length × 2.44 meters in width × 2.59 meters in height, with an internal usable area of approximately 28.3 square meters. The external dimensions of a 40-foot container are 12.2 meters in length × 2.44 meters in width × 2.59 meters in height, with an internal area of about 67.6 square meters. The 40-foot high-cube increases the height to 2.9 meters, meeting the demand for higher ceiling heights by enhancing vertical space. These dimensions strictly adhere to international transportation standards and are suitable for scenarios requiring both transportation and residential functions.

Site residential container dimensions prioritize practicality and space utilization, with common specifications including:

  • 3 meters × 3 meters × 2.8 meters: covering an area of only 9 square meters, mostly used for guardhouses, small warehouses, and other scenarios with low space requirements;
  • 6 meters × 3 meters × 2.8 meters: covering an area of 18 square meters, capable of accommodating about 10 people for living or being transformed into temporary functional areas such as toilets and kitchens;
  • 7 meters × 3 meters × 2.8 meters: adding corridors and awnings based on the 6-meter size, suitable for two-story container mobile homes, enhancing space expandability.

Domestic basic models typically feature dimensions of 6 meters in length × 3 meters in width × 2.8 meters in height, covering an area of 18 square meters. They are widely used in scenarios such as construction site dormitories and temporary offices. Their size design balances residential comfort and transportation convenience, making them a mainstream choice in the domestic market.

Export container dimensions need to adapt to international transportation standards, with the width usually reduced to 2.44 meters, while the length and height are adjusted according to specific needs. This design ensures the global universality of containers while providing a basic framework for internal transformation into residential spaces.

In practical applications, the foundation dimensions of container houses may be customized and adjusted based on design requirements, functional expansions, or site constraints, but all are referenced against the aforementioned standard dimensions.
