Opening a Door in a Container House

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

When opening a door in a container house, it is necessary to select the appropriate door type and size based on actual needs and the type of container, and ensure that the installation complies with safety regulations.

I. Common Door Types and Sizes for Container Houses

  1. Single Door

    • The standard size is 800 mm wide × 2000 mm high, suitable for daily entry and exit, providing basic security.
    • If space is limited or structural simplification is required, a single door is a common choice.
  2. Double Door

    • The standard size is 1600 mm wide × 2000 mm high, suitable for scenarios requiring a larger opening, such as moving large items or serving as office space.
    • Double doors can improve passage efficiency, but it is necessary to ensure that the container structure can withstand the stress of a larger opening.
  3. Custom-Made Door

    • Customize the size according to specific needs, such as higher or wider doors to accommodate special purposes (e.g., equipment entry and exit, barrier-free design).
    • Custom doors need to be designed in conjunction with the structural strength of the container to avoid compromising overall stability.
  4. International Standard Container Door Sizes

    • The standard inner net opening of the front door of a 20-foot dry cargo container is 2198 mm high × 2168 mm wide (including frame), ensuring forklift passage and cargo loading and unloading efficiency.
    • This size is suitable for storage or industrial-use container houses, but note that it occupies a relatively large space, requiring advance planning and layout.

II. Precautions for Opening Doors

  1. Structural Safety

    • Ensure that opening a door does not damage the main load-bearing structure of the container, avoiding a decrease in strength due to cutting or welding.
    • If the opening needs to be enlarged, compensate for structural loss by reinforcing the frame or adding support beams.
  2. Sealing and Waterproofing

    • Properly seal the gap between the door frame and the container body to prevent rainwater leakage.
    • Use waterproof strips or sealant to fill gaps, and install a canopy or sunshade outside the door.
  3. Door Locks and Security

    • Select the type of door lock based on the usage scenario, such as fixed rotating locks, lifting rotating locks, or plug-in rotating locks, to ensure anti-theft performance.
    • If used for living or office purposes, electronic locks or fingerprint locks can be added to enhance security.
  4. Compliance

    • Custom doors must comply with local building codes, especially safety requirements such as fire resistance and earthquake resistance.
    • If used for commercial or public purposes, relevant certifications (such as CSA A277 modular product certification) must be obtained.
