Dimensions of Container Houses
The length, width, and height of container houses vary depending on their type and purpose. Here are the common size ranges:

I. Standard Shipping Container Sizes The internationally common 20-foot (20GP) and 40-foot (40GP) containers are basic types. The external dimensions of a 20GP are approximately 6058 mm in length, 2438 mm in width, and 2591 mm in height, with an internal usable space of 5867 mm in length, 2330 mm in width, and 2350 mm in height. The external dimensions of a 40GP are approximately 12192 mm in length, 2438 mm in width, and 2591 mm in height, with an internal usable space of 11998 mm in length, 2330 mm in width, and 2350 mm in height. Additionally, the external height of a 40-foot high-cube container (40HQ) can reach 2896 mm, with an internal height of 2655 mm, suitable for scenarios with special height requirements, such as exhibition halls or housing renovations.
II. Sizes for Domestic Construction Sites and Temporary Housing Residential containers commonly found on domestic construction sites are designed with economic practicality in mind and offer flexible sizing. For example, a 3 m × 3 m × 2.8 m container has a relatively small area and is mostly used for guard posts or small warehouses. A 6 m × 3 m × 2.8 m container is a mainstream choice, capable of accommodating 10 people for living and can also be renovated into dormitories, kitchens, or bathrooms. A 7 m × 3 m × 2.8 m container has a larger area and is often used for constructing two-story temporary buildings. Additionally, some manufacturers offer non-standard customization services, with widths ranging from 2.5 m, 2.55 m, 3 m, to 4 m, and heights ranging from 2.6 m to 2.9 m, to meet individual needs.
III. Differences in Sizes Between Export and Domestic Use The general size for export container houses is 6 m in length, 2.4 m in width, and 2.9 m in height, consistent with the width of standard shipping containers, facilitating transportation and stacking. In contrast, domestic general sizes focus more on living comfort, typically being 6 m in length, 3 m in width, and 2.9 m in height, providing more spacious internal space.
