Construction Method for the Roof of Container Activity Houses

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

The construction method for the roof of container activity houses mainly includes key steps such as structural reinforcement, material preparation and installation, and construction precautions.

Structural Reinforcement: The design load-bearing capacity of the roof panels of ordinary containers is limited, so structural reinforcement is required. Purlins can be added, and C-shaped steel or square steel tubes can be welded as secondary beams at certain intervals (e.g., 600 - 900mm) between the original roof beams of the container to form a new framework layer. Then, load-bearing panels such as profiled steel sheets or OSB (Oriented Strand Board) can be laid on the purlins as the base layer to enhance the load-bearing capacity of the roof.

Material Preparation and Installation:

  • Roof Panels: Sandwich panels or single-layer profiled steel sheets similar to those used for wall panels are commonly used. When making them, sturdy steel materials need to be prepared, cut according to the design dimensions, and then welded to ensure firm welding and provide basic protection for the roof.
  • Waterproof Layer: Waterproof materials such as SBS modified bitumen waterproof membranes or polymer (PVC/TPO) waterproof membranes are laid on the roof panels. During construction, they should be fully adhered or mechanically fixed, and the overlapping edges must be tightly sealed. Polyurethane waterproof coatings can also be used, which are suitable for complex nodes and irregularly shaped parts to prevent rainwater leakage.
  • Insulation Layer: Insulation materials are selected according to requirements. For example, extruded polystyrene (XPS) boards have a low thermal conductivity and high compressive strength, and a recommended thickness of ≥100mm. Rock wool boards are Class A fire-resistant but have a relatively high water absorption rate, so proper waterproofing is required. Polyurethane rigid foam has the best insulation performance and can be sprayed on-site or used as prefabricated panels to ensure stable indoor temperatures.
  • Vapor Barrier Layer: A vapor barrier layer is laid below the insulation layer, commonly using 0.2mm-thick polyethylene film to prevent indoor water vapor from entering the insulation layer and affecting its insulation effect.
  • Slope-forming Layer: To ensure smooth drainage, the roof surface needs to have a certain slope (usually 2% - 3%). Lightweight concrete (such as expanded clay concrete) or mortar can be used for slope formation.

Construction Precautions: The welding process should be carried out carefully to ensure a firm structure and prevent damage or overturning of the roof due to wind, rain, or strong winds. High-quality materials should be selected to ensure the overall stability of the roof.

After the construction of the roof of the container activity house is completed, it can be applied to construction sites, temporary office spaces, and other scenarios, with advantages such as fast construction speed, mobility, low cost, and environmental friendliness.
