Pipe Installation for Portable Toilets at Construction Sites

Quản trị 10 tháng 10, 2026

The pipe installation for portable toilets at construction sites should be selected based on the type of toilet, mainly divided into flush-type and non-flush-type. The installation steps and precautions are as follows:

Key Points for Flush-Type Portable Toilet Installation

  1. Water Supply Pipe Installation

    • Material Selection: PPR or PE pipes are preferred due to their corrosion resistance and aging resistance, making them suitable for construction site environments.
    • Burial Requirements: The pipe burial depth should be below the local frost line. If this cannot be achieved, insulation cotton should be wrapped around the pipes or electric tracing technology should be used to prevent water supply interruption due to freezing in winter.
    • Connection Method: Use hot-melt connections or specialized fittings to ensure the tightness of the interfaces and prevent water leakage.
  2. Drainage Pipe Installation

    • Slope Control: The drainage pipes should maintain a slope of ≥2% to ensure that sewage flows by gravity to the septic tank or collection device. A slope that is too small can easily lead to blockages, while a slope that is too large may affect the stability of the pipes.
    • Sealing Treatment: All interfaces should be sealed with sealing tape or cement. Regularly check for leaks at the interfaces, especially at the connections to the septic tank.
    • Anti-Backflow Design: It is recommended to install an anti-backflow valve to prevent sewage from flowing back into the toilet when the septic tank is full.
  3. Sewage System Connection

    • Connect the sewage pipes to the construction site's drainage system or temporary collection pits. The interfaces should be reinforced to prevent loosening due to vibrations.
    • If there is no centralized drainage system at the construction site, a separate septic tank should be set up, with its capacity calculated based on the number of users and the cleaning cycle.

Key Points for Non-Flush-Type Portable Toilet Installation

  1. Fecal Collection Container

    • The container should be placed steadily, with rubber pads used at the bottom where it contacts the ground to reduce vibrations and prevent seal failure due to movement or vibrations.
    • Regularly check the tightness of the container. When replacing it, wear protective gloves to avoid direct contact with feces.
  2. Non-Sewage Pipe Design

    • Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for water-scarce areas or temporary construction sites, using stainless steel waterless packing squat toilets.
    • Installation Methods:
      • Floor-mounted Bracket Type: Directly fixed to the ground, ensuring the bracket is stable to prevent tilting.
      • Buried Type: Waterproofing treatment should be done in advance. After leveling the ground, fix the steel frame, add rubber pads for moisture prevention, and adjust the squat toilet to a horizontal position after installation.

General Precautions

  1. Foundation Treatment

    • Clear debris from the ground according to the type of toilet (single or connected). Lay gravel or a concrete foundation to ensure a load-bearing capacity of ≥200kg/㎡ (standard for single-person toilets) and prevent pipe rupture due to ground settlement.
  2. Ventilation and Lighting

    • Preferably install in a location with good natural ventilation to reduce odor accumulation.
    • If ventilation conditions are poor, install exhaust fans or ventilation pipes, with the pipe outlets away from areas where people are active.
  3. Safety Tips

    • Set up reflective signs or warning signs around the toilet to prevent collisions by people at night or in poor visibility conditions.
    • Keep away from areas where flammable and explosive materials are stored. If electric tracing or exhaust fans are used, ensure electrical safety and install leakage protection devices.
