Capacity of Portable Toilets at Construction Sites

Quản trị 24 tháng 9, 2026

The capacity of portable toilets at construction sites is determined based on a combination of the number of toilet stalls, turnover rate, and sewage storage capacity. It can be categorized into the following three types:

I. Capacity Classified by the Number of Toilet Stalls The capacity of a portable toilet primarily depends on the number of stalls, with different scales corresponding to different service capabilities:

  1. Small Portable Toilets: Typically equipped with 3-5 stalls, suitable for small construction sites or temporary events. Their theoretical maximum simultaneous service capacity is 3-5 people, meaning they can accommodate up to that number of users at the same time.
  2. Medium Portable Toilets: These have 6-10 stalls and are commonly found in medium-sized parks, scenic spots, or crowded event venues. Their simultaneous service capacity increases to 6-10 people, meeting the immediate needs of medium-sized crowds.
  3. Large Portable Toilets: With more than 10 stalls, some high-end models also include accessible restrooms and baby care rooms, suitable for large-scale sports events, music festivals, etc. Their simultaneous service capacity exceeds 10 people, efficiently handling high-density foot traffic.

II. Daily Usage Capacity and Turnover Rate In actual use, the daily capacity of portable toilets needs to be calculated in conjunction with the stall turnover rate. During peak hours (such as after an event or during concentrated construction periods), a single stall can serve an average of 8-12 people per hour. For example, a large portable toilet with 10 stalls can serve 80-120 people per hour during peak times. If an event lasts for 4 hours, the theoretical daily capacity can reach 320-480 people, but it should be noted that efficiency may be reduced due to factors such as queuing and cleaning in actual use.

III. Sewage Storage Capacity and Continuous Usage Duration Some high-end portable toilets are equipped with sealed sewage storage tanks, whose capacity directly affects the continuous usage duration. For instance, a 50-60 liter sewage tank can meet the needs of 20-30 people for 8 hours of continuous use. This design is suitable for remote construction sites or areas lacking sewage disposal facilities, reducing operational costs by extending the cleaning cycle. Additionally, a single-person portable toilet can accommodate 1-2 people at a time. If multiple people need to use it simultaneously, a double-stall model is recommended to improve efficiency. During peak construction periods (such as concrete pouring), it is advisable to increase the number of spare stalls by 20% to cope with unexpected demands.

Summary: The capacity of portable toilets at construction sites needs to be evaluated based on a combination of the number of stalls, turnover rate, and sewage storage capacity. Small toilets are suitable for low-density scenarios, while large toilets can handle high-foot-traffic events. The sewage tank design extends the continuous usage time. In actual selection, flexible configuration should be made according to the scale of the construction site, project duration, and personnel flow characteristics.
