Can Mobile Toilets Be Placed in Garages?

Quản trị 12 tháng 10, 2026

Mobile toilets can be placed in garages, but appropriate solutions need to be selected based on specific scenarios and conditions, and compliance requirements should be noted. Here is a detailed analysis:

Ordinary Garage Scenarios

If it is to meet the needs of the elderly or for temporary use, mobile toilets are a viable option. Their designs are usually user-friendly, with some products equipped with folding chair functions, deodorizing boxes, and sealed buckets, making cleaning relatively convenient. If there is sufficient space in the garage, a simple private corner can be set up using partition curtains or lightweight panels to place the mobile toilet. However, good ventilation conditions must be ensured, and an exhaust fan can be installed to assist with ventilation to avoid the accumulation of odors affecting the user experience.

Underground Garage Scenarios

In response to the ventilation limitations in underground garages, a mature technical system has been developed for mobile toilet rental solutions. The ventilation system adopts independent circulation and filtration technology, including core components such as activated carbon filter layers and exhaust fans. The filtration efficiency can still reach over 90% after four hours of continuous use, effectively solving the problem of odor diffusion. The sewage disposal adopts a dual-mode of "vacuum suction + temporary storage", with a built-in 300-liter sealed sewage storage tank that can meet approximately 150 flushing needs. When full, it is cleared by professional sewage suction trucks, avoiding the need to excavate sewage pipes and reducing construction costs and impacts on the garage structure. In terms of spatial layout, operators will prioritize placing them in corner areas near the garage entrance or elevator lobby. Each unit occupies about 1.2 square meters and has a height of no more than 2.2 meters, which does not occupy standard parking spaces and also complies with the height restrictions of underground garages.

Compliance Requirements

If structural modifications to the garage are involved (such as the installation of a fixed toilet), legal regulations must be strictly followed. According to the Civil Code, changing the use of a building (such as converting a garage into a bathroom) must be approved by a vote of all the owners of the entire building, and a planning permit must be obtained, ensuring that the load-bearing walls are not damaged and fire protection facilities are installed. Unapproved modifications may be identified as illegal constructions and face the risk of forced demolition. Therefore, if only a mobile toilet is placed and no structural modifications are involved, usually no additional approvals are required; however, if fixed installation or a change in the use of the garage is needed, the statutory procedures must be followed.
