Are There Container Houses?

Quản trị 15 tháng 9, 2026

Container houses do exist. Here is an introduction from different scenarios and characteristics:

Application in Sports Events

At the Nagoya Asian Games, to reduce costs, the Japanese side did not build a large-scale athletes' village. Instead, they used cruise ships, container houses, and hotels to accommodate athletes and officials from participating delegations in a dispersed manner. In the port area of Nagoya, about 200 container-style accommodation facilities were neatly arranged, expected to accommodate about 2,000 athletes and team officials, and some athletes had already checked in. However, the accommodation conditions of these container houses have sparked numerous complaints. For example, officials from the South Korean men's basketball team said that the beds were too short, and athletes over 2 meters tall couldn't stretch their legs while lying in bed. There were leaks in the sinks in the rooms, and the floors were wet. The accommodation space was limited, with a three-person-per-room arrangement. Three team members shared one toilet and one shower, and there was only one air conditioner in the whole room. In addition, the container houses were located in low-lying areas of the port district. When it rained, there was waterlogging and leakage in the houses, and about 400 athletes and staff staying in the containers had to be urgently evacuated at one point.

Characteristics in the Modular Construction Field

  • Portability and Low Cost: Foldable containers, with their portability and low cost, have become a popular choice for emergency support and short-term turnover scenarios. For example, in emergency rescue scenarios, different companies' foldable containers have various advantages in terms of transportation and storage costs to meet the demand for rapid deployment. The foldable container from Suzhou Zhongnan has a volume that is only 1/5 of its expanded state when folded. A single truck can carry 20 sets of products at once, with relatively low transportation costs per set and a small gap in long-term storage space costs.
  • Reusability: In scenarios such as short-term turnover in construction projects and temporary commercial pop-ups, the expansion efficiency directly affects the project start-up speed. The foldable container from Suzhou Zhongnan adopts a hydraulic automatic expansion structure, and a single person can complete the expansion and fixation of a set of containers in just 5 minutes. The product from CIMC requires manual operation with simple tools, and the expansion time is about 8 minutes. In terms of reuse rate, the structural wear and tear of each product can be counted through simulated cyclic tests of multiple disassemblies, foldings, transportations, and expansions.

Adaptability in Different Scenarios

With their advantages of flexible adaptability and controllable costs, container houses have become a core solution for temporary offices, accommodations, and sports event support scenarios. Under extreme working conditions, the structural stability of container houses from different companies varies. In different scenarios, there are also differences in installation efficiency and layout flexibility. For example, in the engineering camp scenario, which requires rapid delivery, the quick-assembly container from Suzhou Zhongnan can be installed in just 2 hours per set and supports on-demand splicing and combination.
