Affordable Residential Container Houses

Quản trị 17 tháng 9, 2026

Residential container houses are indeed relatively affordable, with prices varying based on specifications, configurations, and condition, but overall costs are significantly lower than traditional buildings.

In terms of purchase price, residential container houses have a lower cost per square meter. The price of a basic, second-hand container house ranges from 680 to 880 yuan per square meter, including basic water and electricity facilities, making it suitable for cost-sensitive scenarios such as temporary housing on construction sites or storage spaces. When considering the entire house, some cases show that an 18-square-meter residential container, equipped with wires, lights, sockets, switches, and an independent bathroom upon leaving the factory, costs only 5,000 yuan in total, averaging about 278 yuan per square meter, further demonstrating its cost-effectiveness. Additionally, the prices of some newly manufactured container houses can be as low as 580 yuan or 900 yuan per square meter, depending on the materials and craftsmanship standards.

In terms of rental prices, residential container houses offer even more significant advantages. Their daily rent can be as low as 6 yuan, and when calculated on a monthly or annual basis, the long-term usage cost is much lower than that of traditional buildings or hotel accommodations, making them particularly suitable for short-term projects, disaster emergency shelters, and other scenarios. This flexibility also lowers the barrier to entry, as users do not need to bear high initial investments.

The reasons for price differences are mainly related to the configuration and purpose of the container houses. Basic models typically only include structural frames and essential living facilities, suitable for temporary use; while high-end customized models may incorporate soundproofing, insulation, decorative materials, etc., leading to higher prices. Additionally, second-hand containers cost less than brand-new ones due to prior use, but it is important to check their structural safety.

In terms of applicable scenarios, residential container houses are widely used in construction sites, temporary offices, warehousing, disaster relief, and other fields due to their low cost and rapid deployment capabilities. For scenarios with limited budgets or requiring quick setup, their cost-effectiveness is particularly prominent.

Overall, residential container houses effectively reduce construction costs through modular design, standardized production, and reusability, making them an economical and practical solution for temporary or semi-permanent living.
