Basic Overview of Zhuxiang Town

Zhuxiang Town is located in Zhecheng County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province. It covers a total area of 59 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over 22 administrative villages (with another saying of 23). The permanent population is 45,000. It is bordered by Laowangji Town to the east, Qitai Town and Chenqingji Town to the south, Pudong Sub-district Office and Niucheng Township to the west, and Maji Township and Huxiang Town to the north. The terrain is flat, with 54,000 mu of arable land, belonging to the Yellow River alluvial plain. The Shangzhou Expressway and Provincial Road S207 form the main traffic framework, and the Shangzhe Express Link incorporates the town area into the 15-minute traffic circle of the county.

History and Culture

The renaming of Zhuxiang Town stems from the historical and cultural origin of the mausoleum of Emperor Yan Zhuxiang within its territory, aiming to strengthen the cultural identity of the "Hometown of Emperor Yan". The Mausoleum of Emperor Yan Zhuxiang is located in Zhugu Temple Village. Since the Ming Dynasty, it has been a place for imperial sacrifices, and a grand worship ceremony is held on the eighth day of the third lunar month every year. In September 2023, Zhecheng County was named a provincial cultural town due to its profound cultural heritage of Emperor Yan, and related legends have been included in the intangible cultural heritage list. Currently, facilities such as the Emperor Yan Cultural Square and the Zhuxiangshi Cultural Research Center have been built within the town area.

The town government service center is located in Xijie Village and can handle 48 government service items, including entrepreneurial guaranteed loans and urban and rural residents' medical insurance participation. The livestock and poultry breeding industry has an annual output of 21,000 pigs and 16,000 sheep, forming characteristic industries such as beef cattle breeding in Zhangbai Village.
