Zhejiang Public Toilet Mobility

Admin 05 de octubre de 2026

There are relevant cases and practices of mobile public toilets in Zhejiang.

I. Customized Mobile Toilet Case
Dezhou Hongtu Metal Products Co., Ltd. once customized a mobile toilet for a campsite in Zhejiang. It featured a two-compartment structure with an exterior wall made of emerald-green metal carved panels, providing both thermal insulation and heat preservation. The overall design was shaped like an 'Apple Pod'. This case demonstrates that mobile toilets can be customized according to the needs of specific usage scenarios, including spatial layout, exterior materials, and functional configurations, making them suitable for temporary or semi-permanent venues such as campsites.

II. Mobile Landscape Public Toilet Practice
The mobile landscape public toilet at the intersection of Qianchao Road and Sanxin Road along the Qiantang River embankment in Hangzhou is a typical example. This toilet was introduced by the Jianggan District Urban Management Bureau from Xiamen and built in collaboration with Sijiqing Street. It opened on June 29, 2019. Its core features include:

  1. Modular Design and Rapid Deployment: Produced entirely in a factory and then transported to the site for hoisting, it only requires connection to utilities to be operational, significantly shortening the construction period.
  2. Location Flexibility: Its position can be adjusted later based on actual needs, avoiding the resource waste caused by fixed locations of traditional public toilets, especially suitable for areas with high population mobility.
  3. Smart Features: Equipped with music playback upon door closure, automatic flushing upon door opening, and deodorization and sterilization systems, enhancing the user experience. Internal facilities include urinals, squat toilets, and sinks, meeting basic needs.
  4. Optimized Management: The toilet is surrounded by signage, and during the pilot period, it was open from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Relevant departments plan to add similar facilities near the Qiantang River embankment based on usage effectiveness, reflecting a dynamic management approach.

III. Applicability and Advantages of Mobile Toilets
Mobile toilets are suitable for venues such as train stations, docks, tourist attractions, and large construction sites. Their core value lies in:

  • Mobility: They can be relocated through hoisting or transportation, adapting to temporary needs (such as events or construction) or long-term layout optimizations.
  • Combinability: The number of toilet stalls can be flexibly increased or decreased based on foot traffic, avoiding resource idleness or shortage.
  • Transport Convenience: Modular design reduces transportation difficulty, especially suitable for areas with complex terrain or remote locations.
Such facilities effectively compensate for the shortcomings of traditional public toilets, such as insufficient quantity and rigid layout, becoming an important supplement to urban public service facilities.
