The locally popular prefabricated cement houses in Henan have all their components pre-cast in the factory, with the main body made of reinforced concrete. After being transported to the homestead and the foundation is laid, a crane, along with a few workers, can assemble the main house of about 200 square meters in as fast as four hours. The basic rough unit price is over 300 yuan per square meter, with a standard service life of up to 70 years and a maximum of five floors that can be built. However, if the construction at the splicing joints is not in place, there may be potential water leakage risks in the later stage. Their seismic performance is not as good as that of monolithic cast-in-place houses, and the interior decoration and water and electricity installation of the houses still require additional investment from the homeowners.
