Portable Toilets around the Yangtze River Bridge
Admin 01 de octubre de 2026
Portable toilets are set up around the Wuhan and Nanjing Yangtze River Bridges, but the specific situations vary.

Portable Toilets around the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge
- Hanyang Bridgehead Public Toilet: The first 'tidal public toilet' in Wuhan, located at the Hanyang bridgehead. It was built in the 1990s and fully upgraded and opened on August 11, 2025. After the upgrade, it has set up 6 unisex 'tidal toilet stalls' that can dynamically adjust the ratio of men's and women's toilet stalls according to the flow of people. The capacity of squatting stalls has increased by the equivalent of 70%, and the waiting time during peak hours has been reduced by more than half. A 'third toilet' has also been added, equipped with a baby care table, safety seats, and other facilities. The public area has reserved vending machines and convenient charging areas. The toilet is fully equipped with toilet paper, hand soap, etc., and also has air conditioning and a fresh air system. The municipal blind path has been extended into the public toilet. During the Spring Festival in 2025, the average daily flow of people using this toilet reached 2,000, and queuing affected tourists' experience before the renovation.
- Hanyangmen Public Toilet: Located at the Wuchang bridgehead and the entrance to Hubu Lane. During the May Day holiday, the passenger flow was large, with up to 2,000 people using the toilet per hour. To cope with the pressure, the Wuchang Urban Management added 10 portable toilets outside the public toilet. After a sharp increase in passenger flow on the evening of May 1, another 5 portable toilets were urgently transported overnight at around 10 p.m. This public toilet has a total of 20 toilet stalls, including 13 for women, 6 for men, and 1 barrier-free stall. Calculated based on an average of 2 minutes per person using the toilet, the hourly saturation capacity is about 600 people. Once the platform shows that the number of people per hour exceeds this figure, a diversion procedure will be immediately initiated, and there are 5 other public toilets within a 500-meter radius for diversion.
Portable Toilets around the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge
Two portable toilets are set up under the Worker-Peasant-Soldier sculptures in front of the south and north bridgeheads. They are about 2 meters high and cover an area of about 10 square meters. These two portable toilets were placed at the end of September 2004 to meet the urgent needs of tourists based on the suggestions of many tourists. However, this move has sparked controversy. Some people believe that placing them near the Worker-Peasant-Soldier sculptures is 'inelegant and disrespectful' and 'damages the image of the sculptures'.
