Xinjiang Mobile Toilet Incident

Admin 21 de septiembre de 2026

The Xinjiang mobile toilet incident involves three different cases in Kashgar Xiangfeiyuan Scenic Area, Urumqi Cultural Park, and Altay Region. Here are the details:

Kashgar Xiangfeiyuan Scenic Area Incident: On July 29, 2026, some tourists reported privacy safety hazards in the disabled restrooms of this scenic area. The installed black reflective glass allowed a clear view of the toilet area from the outside. Although it was reflective glass, there were light-leaking flaws. The scenic area promptly arranged for personnel to apply a film to the restroom glass on the same day, eliminating the hazard in a timely manner, and initiated a comprehensive self-inspection of other restroom facilities. This incident reflects that the privacy safety of simple mobile toilets needs to be guaranteed from multiple aspects. At the design source, the privacy needs of users should be fully considered. In terms of material selection, materials such as one-way perspective glass or frosted/fogged glass that can effectively protect privacy should be used. The acceptance process should be strict to ensure that all facilities meet privacy protection standards. Daily maintenance is also indispensable to promptly identify and resolve potential problems.

Urumqi Cultural Park Incident: The mobile public toilets in this park were not open in winter because the construction unit did not take thermal insulation measures and the sewer pipes were buried shallowly. After the cold weather set in, the sewer pipes of the public toilets froze, making them unusable. It is expected that after the weather warms up, construction personnel will be organized to repair the sewer pipes of the public toilets, and then they will be open to the public. At the same time, this year, Shuimogou District also plans to add several public toilets in the Exhibition Area and inspect and repair faulty public toilets throughout the district.

Altay Region Incident: With the popularity of the TV series My Altay, the number of tourists to the local area has increased, and the supporting tourism services have attracted attention. Some netizens described the local toilets as 'beyond description.' The director of the Altay Culture and Tourism Bureau stated that a series of measures would be taken to improve the situation, including adding mobile toilets, optimizing the shuttle bus routes, improving the quality of catering services and accommodation, and increasing the display of complaint hotlines in scenic areas to promptly handle tourists' problems and feedback.
