Urban Mobile Toilet Renovation
Urban mobile toilet renovation has yielded different practical achievements in various cities. Taking Shanghai and Guangzhou as examples, it is reflected in aspects such as facility upgrades, technological applications, and institutional construction.

Facility Upgrades: After upgrading, some mobile public toilets in Shanghai have a completely new appearance, featuring soft color combinations that are harmonious and elegant. To facilitate the elderly and families with children, third restrooms have been added. At the intersection of Century Avenue and Weifang Road, the mobile public toilets have been equipped with a 'Sanitation Workers' Rest Station', which includes facilities such as refrigerators, shower rooms, microwaves, and charging ports, providing convenience for sanitation workers. In Guangzhou, over 85% of the public toilets across the city are equipped with complete barrier-free facilities, shifting from addressing the issue of 'availability' to pursuing 'quality', and resolving pain points in people's livelihood through refined management.
Technological Applications: The mobile eco-friendly public toilets in Shanghai are designed based on new materials and water-saving technologies. They automatically collect hand-washing water and add special agents, achieving a flushing effect with only 0.46 liters of water per person. Their frames are welded from national standard steel and covered with anti-corrosion and fire-resistant materials, with a service life of over 20 years. Internally, they are equipped with an independent toilet pit zoning treatment system. The urine channel utilizes gravity flow, while the feces channel is cleaned by a piston-type scraper mechanical device. They are also equipped with non-slip floors, automatic flushing toilet bowls, and ventilation and lighting systems, meeting relevant standards. Mobile public toilets emerged during the third public toilet revolution and have gradually developed into various technological routes such as waterless flushing, foam sealing, and water flushing, covering细分品类 (sub-categories) such as antique-style, temporary construction site, and ship-mounted types, supporting vehicle-mounted and traditional public toilet renovations, with diverse product forms.
Institutional Construction: Guangzhou has established a rigorous institutional system, having issued a series of documents such as the 'Guangzhou Public Toilet Construction and Management Standards'. The 'Guangzhou Public Toilet Management Measures', which came into effect on April 1, 2024, for the first time clarified the classification definitions of public toilets at the municipal legislative level, scientifically dividing the city's public toilets into four categories: sanitation, park, rural, and social public toilets, systematically resolving the issues of 'who builds, how to build, and how to manage'.
