Urban Mobile Toilet Design Requirements
The design of urban mobile toilets must meet requirements in terms of size standards, functional zoning, internal facility configuration, and industry standards, as detailed below:

1. Size Standards
A single-stall mobile public toilet typically occupies an area of 1.2㎡ to 1.8㎡, with internal clear dimensions of length 1.2m to 1.5m × width 1.0m to 1.2m, and a height of 2.2m to 2.5m, ensuring sufficient space for use and ease of mobility. For multi-stall public toilets, taking a double-stall as an example, the occupied area is approximately 3㎡ to 4㎡; for three stalls or more, an additional 1.5㎡ to 2㎡ of usable area is required for each additional stall to avoid overcrowding.
2. Functional Zoning
- Barrier-Free Stalls: The internal clear dimensions must not be less than 1.8m × 1.4m. A barrier-free ramp with a width of ≥0.8m must be installed at the entrance, along with handrails and a low-positioned washbasin to facilitate access for wheelchair users.
- Baby Care Room/Third Restroom: The area should generally be ≥4㎡, with a clear width of ≥1.5m. It must include a baby changing table, a child-sized toilet, safety grab bars, etc., to meet the needs of special groups.
3. Internal Facility Configuration
- Core Sanitary Fixtures: Ceramic squat toilets or sit-down toilets are used, with high-end products possibly made of stainless steel; the handwashing system includes a washbasin, faucet, and water storage tank; and it is equipped with a mirror, clothes hook, storage shelf, toilet paper holder, and trash can.
- Environmental Control Systems: The ventilation system is equipped with a 20-50 watt powerful exhaust fan; lighting uses 5-15 watt LED energy-saving lamps; in cold regions, insulation materials, electric heaters, or warm air blowers can be installed, while in hot regions, ventilation skylights or small air conditioners can be added.
- Water Supply and Drainage, and Power Systems: The water supply system is divided into self-contained tank type or external water source type; the sewage system traditionally uses a bottom sewage tank, while modern environmentally friendly types adopt foam sealing or microbial degradation technology; power is supplied through a 220V mains connection or built-in batteries and solar panels.
- Structure and Accessories: An internal safety door lock is installed, and an 'Occupied/Vacant' indicator lock or LED display is provided externally; wall panels are made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), fiberglass, or colored steel plates, and the floor uses non-slip flooring or fiberglass grating.
4. Industry Standards
Production must comply with national standards such as 'GB/T 26963-2011 Mobile Toilets', with a focus on airtightness, odor control performance, insulation effect, and the brand of core components to ensure product durability and environmental friendliness.
