Types of Ecological Mobile Toilets

Admin 21 de septiembre de 2026

Ecological mobile toilets can be classified into six categories based on technical principles: microbial degradation type, foam sealing type, water-free packing type, solar thermal-assisted type, negative pressure water-saving and water-free type, and recirculating water type. They can also be divided into movable and fixed types based on structural form, and include materials such as steel-frame cement composite structures.

From the perspective of technical principles, the microbial degradation type is based on solid-liquid separation technology, using microbial communities to decompose feces into carbon dioxide, water, and organic fertilizer. Some models can operate at temperatures above 60℃, providing both sterilization and disinfection functions. For example, the smart ecological toilets used in the venues of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and the carbon-neutral public toilets deployed in Chengdu in 2024 both utilize this technology. The foam sealing type covers excreta with compressed foam to block odors and reduce flushing frequency, making it suitable for water-scarce regions and commonly found in scenic spots. The water-free packing type operates similarly to diapers, directly sealing excreta without water, making it ideal for extreme environments like desert camping. The solar thermal-assisted type uses solar energy to provide heat, assisting microbial degradation or maintaining system operation, suitable for high-altitude and water-scarce areas. The negative pressure water-saving and water-free type uses vacuum negative pressure technology to create negative pressure by extracting air, significantly reducing flushing water consumption, and has been applied in high-speed rail stations and large-scale event venues. The recirculating water type processes excreta through a water circulation system, enabling water reuse and is one of the main technical types of ecological public toilets.

In terms of structural form, the movable type does not require the construction of sewer networks or septic tanks, facilitating flexible deployment; the fixed type requires permanent installation and is suitable for long-term use scenarios.

Regarding materials, the steel-frame cement composite structure offers excellent thermal insulation, with a service life of over 20 years, meeting the needs of long-term stable operation.

Additionally, some ecological mobile toilets integrate functions such as intelligent temperature control, biological deodorization, and 5G IoT remote monitoring, enhancing user experience and operational efficiency through intelligent management. For example, intelligent temperature control ensures the stable operation of microbial degradation toilets in low-temperature environments, biological deodorization technology further optimizes air quality, and 5G IoT remote monitoring enables real-time monitoring of equipment status, facilitating fault prediction and rapid response.
