Toilet Sewer Pipe Relocation

Admin 05 de octubre de 2026

The toilet sewer pipe can be relocated, but the appropriate method must be chosen based on the relocation distance, and construction specifications must be strictly followed.

I. Short-Distance Relocation (Within 40 cm)

  1. Use a Special Relocation Device:

    • Flat or round relocation pipes: Suitable for short-distance adjustments, a slope of 1%-2% (i.e., a drop of 1-2 cm per meter) must be maintained to ensure smooth sewage discharge.
    • Reduce the number of bends: Excessive bends can easily cause blockages. It is recommended to keep the pipes as straight as possible and avoid right-angle turns.
  2. Toilet Relocation Device (Offset Device):

    • Suitable for solving the problem of misalignment between the sewage outlet and the toilet position. Common relocation distances range from 5-10 cm, and can reach up to 15 cm in special cases.
    • Choose a relocation device that matches the pipe diameter (usually 110mm or 75mm) and ensure that the joints are tightly sealed after installation.

II. Long-Distance Relocation (Over 40 cm)

  1. Raise the Floor and Relay the Pipes:

    • The entire floor needs to be raised by about 20 cm to provide installation space for the new pipes while ensuring the required slope.
    • When relaying the pipes, it is recommended to use PVC or cast iron pipes, and avoid using flexible pipes (such as corrugated pipes) to prevent deformation.
  2. Use a Sewage Lifting Pump for Drainage Assistance:

    • If space is limited and the floor cannot be raised, a sewage lifting pump can be installed to transport the sewage to the main sewer pipe using pump force.
    • Regular maintenance of the lifting pump is required to prevent motor failure or blockages.

III. Construction Precautions

  1. Pipe Sealing:

    • All joints must be sealed using special glue or hot-melt connections to ensure no leakage.
    • Avoid using raw material tape or ordinary tape, as they are prone to aging and detachment over long-term use.
  2. Protect the Building Structure:

    • When drilling holes or cutting slots, avoid steel bars and load-bearing structures to prevent damage to the building's safety.
    • If the pipes need to pass through the floor slab, install waterproof sleeves around the pipes and redo the waterproof layer.
  3. Waterproofing and Closed Water Test:

    • After relocation, the waterproof layer must be redone, especially at the joints between the pipes and the floor slab. Apply waterproof coating and lay non-woven fabric for reinforcement.
    • After construction is completed, conduct a 48-hour closed water test to observe whether there is any leakage on the ceiling below, and confirm that everything is correct before proceeding with further renovation.

Summary: The relocation of toilet sewer pipes requires choosing a plan based on the distance. For short distances, relocation devices are preferred, while for long distances, the floor needs to be raised or a lifting pump is required. During construction, attention must be paid to sealing, waterproofing, and structural safety to avoid rework later.
