The Toilet Seat Position Is Not Absolutely Unmovable

Admin 08 de octubre de 2026

The toilet seat position is not absolutely unmovable, but it requires careful operation and attention to various situations. If not necessary, it is not recommended to move it, as it may lead to problems such as poor drainage and foul odors. If you must move the toilet, you can use the following methods and pay attention to relevant matters:

Methods for Moving the Toilet

  • Toilet Shifter Method: When the moving distance is less than 15 centimeters from the original position, a specialized toilet shifter can be used. It is a pipe fitting used to connect the sewage outlet of the toilet and the lower sewage pipe, playing a role when the two interfaces do not match. Within the allowable range, the larger the moving range of the toilet shifter, the greater the required slope. Therefore, it should be installed before the bathroom tiles are laid, and sometimes the floor may need to be chiseled down or raised.
  • Floor Raising Method: If the pipes need to be moved more than 15 centimeters, structural modifications to the bathroom are required. When modifying the pipes, the bathroom floor must be raised, and an additional water trap should be added to prevent foul odors from flowing back. The diameter of an ordinary drainage pipe is about 110mm, and the floor should be raised by at least 120mm, leaving room for cement mortar and the slope of the sewage pipe.
  • Rear-Discharge Toilet: Using a rear-discharge toilet, the pipes can run along the wall during relocation, eliminating the need to raise the floor to handle pipe concealment issues.

Precautions for Moving the Toilet

  • Negotiate with the Downstairs Resident: When changing the position of the sewage pipes, it is necessary to negotiate well with the downstairs resident to avoid causing inconvenience. Since changing the sewage pipes may affect the bathroom use of the downstairs resident, prior communication and negotiation are essential.
  • Pay Attention to Pipe Sealing: The sealing of the pipes, especially the interface positions between different pipes, should be emphasized. Poor sealing may lead to sewage leakage, and consideration should also be given to potential blockage problems during future use to ensure tight and seamless pipe connections.
  • Hire a Professional Technician: Moving the toilet is a relatively complex task, and it is essential to hire a professional technician instead of doing it yourself. Professional technicians have the relevant skills and experience to better handle problems encountered during the relocation process and avoid inconveniences in life due to improper operation.
