Toilet Motion Sensor Renovation
The toilet motion sensor renovation can achieve automatic light switching by combining human body sensors with motors and smart sensors, with the core idea being to solve the problem of sensor failure when the human body is stationary. Here are the specific implementation plans and principles:

I. Renovation Plan Based on DC Gear Motor
Equipment Composition
- Core Components: DC gear motor (to adjust the angle of the sensor), motor speed control module (to control the speed), ZIGBEE smart socket (to control the power on/off), USB charging socket (4-port power supply), USB LED light strip (for lighting), and two Xiaomi human body sensors.
- Auxiliary Materials: Several wires, light-blocking tape (to adjust the sensing window).
Installation and Debugging
- Entrance Sensor: Fixed at the entrance of the restroom, it triggers the smart socket to power on, simultaneously starting the LED light strip and the gear motor.
- Motor Sensor: Partially cover the sensing window (to reduce the detection range) and attach it to the motor surface at a 45-degree angle, then fix it to the wall. This angle can cover the toilet area, ensuring detection even when a person is seated.
- Synchronized Power Supply: Share the same charger between the USB interface of the motor speed control module and the light strip. Control the motor speed through the speed control module, indirectly adjusting the sensor's detection frequency to avoid signal loss when the human body is stationary.
Function Implementation
- Light On Upon Entry: When the entrance sensor is triggered, the light strip and motor start simultaneously.
- Stay Lit: The motor drives the sensor to make slight angle adjustments, continuously detecting the human body signal; the speed control module optimizes the speed according to the environment to ensure stable static human body signals.
- Light Off Upon Exit: When neither sensor detects a signal, the smart socket cuts off the power, and the system shuts down.
II. Smart Rule Plan Based on Multiple Sensors
Sensor Combination
- Human Body Motion Sensor: Detects dynamic human body signals in the restroom.
- Toilet Seat Sensor (e.g., modified Xiaomi toilet seat cover): Identifies usage status.
- Bathroom Door/Window Sensor: Monitors the door's open/closed status.
Smart Rule Settings
- Rule A: When the human body motion sensor detects a person → turn on the light.
- Rule B: When the human body motion sensor does not detect a person for 2 minutes → turn off the light.
- Rule C: When the toilet seat is occupied or the door is closed → pause Rule B (to avoid accidentally turning off the light while using the restroom).
- Rule D: When the toilet seat is vacated and the door is opened → resume Rule B (automatically turn off the light after the person leaves).
III. Plan Comparison and Optimization
- Motor Plan: Suitable for independent renovations without a smart ecosystem, with lower costs but requiring manual angle and speed adjustments.
- Multiple Sensor Plan: Relies on a smart platform (e.g., Xiaomi), with flexible rules but higher equipment costs.
- Common Advantages: Both solve the sensing blind spot when the human body is stationary through a "dynamic detection + status locking" mechanism, improving convenience of use.
Precautions: Ensure the motor and sensor are firmly fixed during installation to avoid detection deviations caused by vibrations; for the multiple sensor plan, plan the equipment positions in advance to reduce signal interference.
