Toilet Drain Pipe Relocation Kit

Admin 10 de octubre de 2026

The relocation of toilet drain pipes can be achieved by altering the position of the drain pipe or using a toilet offset flange, depending on the bathroom structure, drainage method, and construction conditions, while strictly adhering to slope and sealing specifications.

I. Core Methods and Applicable Conditions

  1. Altering the Position of the Drain Pipe

    • Applicable Scenarios: The bathroom has a backfill layer with a thickness of ≥30 cm, and the original drain pipe has a trap.
    • Key Operation Points: Re-plan the route of the drain pipe, ensuring pipe sealing (e.g., using hot-melt connections or specialized sealing rings) and stability (with fixed supports spaced ≤1 meter apart) to prevent interface loosening due to vibration.
    • Advantages: Flexible relocation distance without affecting flushing performance.
  2. Using a Toilet Offset Flange

    • Applicable Scenarios: The position of the drain pipe is fixed (e.g., same-floor drainage with limited space or inter-floor drainage requiring avoidance of damage to the ceiling below).
    • Key Operation Points: Select an offset flange that matches the diameter of the original drain pipe (commonly 110mm PVC material), install it horizontally to prevent drainage blockage due to tilting. It is recommended that the relocation distance be ≤30 cm; for longer distances, a straight-flush toilet should be used to reduce the risk of blockage.
    • Precautions: Prioritize the use of one-piece offset flanges (to reduce the number of interfaces) and avoid flexible hose materials (which are prone to aging and deformation).

II. Key Construction Specifications

  1. Slope Control

    • The overall drain pipe should maintain a slope of 1%-2% (i.e., a drop of 1-2 cm per meter) to ensure the self-flow of sewage. If the slope cannot be met in the section with the offset flange, adjust the floor height or use a specialized offset flange with a slope for compensation.
  2. Elbow Optimization

    • Minimize the use of 90° elbows and prioritize 45° elbows or swept tees. If multiple elbows must be used, increase the pipe diameter (e.g., from 110mm to 160mm) to reduce the probability of blockage.
  3. Waterproofing and Sealing

    • Apply PVC-specific adhesive or silicone sealant at pipe connections. After relocation, conduct a 48-hour closed-water test to check for leaks in the ceiling below and around the pipes.

III. Handling Special House Types

  • Sunken Bathrooms: The position of the drain pipe can be freely altered, but the cast iron pipe should be wrapped with cement mortar and coated with waterproof paint to prevent rust and leakage.
  • Inter-Floor Drainage: Obtain permission from the property management and the signature of the owner below. Avoid damaging the original floor structure during construction and restore the ceiling to its original state after relocation.

IV. Material Selection Recommendations

  • Economical Option: PVC toilet offset flange (priced at approximately 20-50 yuan), suitable for short-distance relocation.
  • High-Performance Option: One-piece horizontal relocation offset flange without excavation (priced at approximately 200-500 yuan), featuring thickened material and odor-proof design, suitable for renovations of old houses.

Tip: Before relocation, confirm the drainage method of the toilet (siphon or straight-flush). Siphon toilets are more sensitive to relocation distance, so it is recommended to prioritize straight-flush or high-flush models.
