Tianjin Mobile Biochemical Toilet

Admin 21 de septiembre de 2026

There are biodegradable mobile toilets in Tianjin, which are eco-friendly facilities that use microbial decomposition to treat excrement.

Working Principle

The toilet is filled with selected microbial inoculants that remain active under suitable temperature and humidity conditions. When excrement enters the treatment tank, the microorganisms begin to decompose the organic matter, converting it into carbon dioxide, water, and a small amount of biomass. The entire degradation process does not require chemical additives and does not produce pungent odors, mainly relying on the synergistic action of aerobic and facultative microorganisms. The equipment is equipped with a ventilation system that maintains oxygen supply through natural convection or forced ventilation, while expelling gases produced during degradation and controlling humidity within an appropriate range.

Structural Composition

It typically consists of several key parts: an outer shell frame, a treatment tank, a ventilation system, a toilet seat or squat pan, and a control panel. The outer shell frame is often made of lightweight materials for easy mobility and installation; the treatment tank is located at the bottom of the equipment and is filled with microbial inoculants and auxiliary materials; the ventilation system ensures air circulation; the control panel can display the equipment's operating status, and some models have automatic adjustment functions.

Application Advantages

It does not require connection to water supply and drainage networks, making it suitable for use in areas lacking infrastructure. Since it does not use water for flushing, it can save a significant amount of water daily. The degradation products can be used as soil amendments for non-food plant cultivation, achieving resource recycling. In areas such as Jixian, Tianjin, it is commonly found in parks, scenic spots, temporary event venues, and rural areas, providing convenience for tourists and residents while reducing the impact on the local environment.

Maintenance and Management

The microbial activity needs to be checked regularly, which can be judged by observing the degradation speed and odor. If degradation is slow or an odor is produced, fresh inoculants need to be added. The degradation products in the treatment tank should be cleaned out at regular intervals, with the cleaning cycle depending on the frequency of use and environmental conditions. Daily maintenance includes keeping the ventilation system unobstructed, cleaning the surface of the toilet seat, and checking whether the control panel is functioning properly. In cold seasons, insulation measures need to be taken to prevent a decrease in microbial activity. The maintenance costs mainly include inoculant supplementation and equipment inspection.
