The Earliest Prefabricated Panel Houses
The technology related to the earliest prefabricated panel houses originated abroad. The Soviet Union began large-scale construction of brick-concrete prefabricated panel buildings from 1955 to 1963, and later this technology was introduced to China.

Origin and Development Abroad
The technology related to prefabricated panel houses first emerged abroad, with the Soviet Union being one of the early countries to apply this technology on a large scale. From 1955 to 1963, the Soviet Union started large-scale construction of brick-concrete prefabricated panel buildings. This construction method had the significant advantage of enabling rapid construction of residential buildings. In the social context of that time, it met the demand for quickly increasing housing supply and provided an effective way to solve the housing problem for a large population. Through prefabricated panel technology, building components could be produced in advance in factories and then transported to the construction site for assembly, greatly shortening the construction cycle and improving construction efficiency.
Introduction and Application in China
Prefabricated concrete in China originated in the 1950s of the 20th century, initially influenced by the Soviet Union's prefabricated concrete building model. During this period, prefabricated concrete technology was mainly applied in construction fields such as industrial plants, residential buildings, and office buildings. From the late 1950s to the mid-1980s of the 20th century, the vast majority of single-story industrial plants were built using prefabricated concrete. This was because industrial plants usually had large spans and space requirements, and prefabricated concrete components could be conveniently produced and installed in a standardized manner, meeting the requirements of industrial production for building structures.
Before the mid-1980s of the 20th century, prefabricated concrete technology was also widely used in multi-story residential and office buildings. The use of prefabricated panel technology in multi-story residential buildings allowed for the rapid construction of a large number of housing units, alleviating the tight housing situation in cities. In office buildings, this technology could improve construction speed and meet the demand for office space in urban development. The development of prefabricated panel house technology in China not only drew on foreign experience but also made improvements and innovations based on domestic actual conditions, gradually forming a building technology system suitable for China's national conditions.
