There are several representative creative container house projects in Songjiang District.
The Shanghai Container Building Complex is one of the more well-known creative container house projects in Songjiang District. Located at the construction site on Rongle East Road, it was designed and built by Shanghai Jiku Architectural Modular Co., Ltd. and completed in March 2015. The complex is constructed using 30 discarded shipping containers, covering an area of approximately 900 square meters and divided into two floors. It features a rich variety of internal functional areas, including offices, capsule hotels, restaurant bars, leisure terraces, and swimming pools. The interior decoration follows the standards of a five-star hotel, with a construction cost of about 4000 yuan per square meter (including decoration). It adopts a modular design to form a 'box-style shop' model, which has a short construction period and reduces waste generation. However, due to the lack of national standards for using containers to construct buildings, the construction process is suspected of violating relevant regulations.
The Jiuli Workshop Cultural and Creative Park is also a typical representative of creative container houses in Songjiang District. Originally a logistics and warehousing base, it has been transformed into a cultural and creative industrial park that blends nostalgia with modernity and retro with industrial elements. The buildings in the park maintain an industrial style and cleverly combine container modules with the original factory buildings, creating a visual contrast and conflict that results in an interesting spatial effect.
In addition, the Songjiang University Town Wenhui 'Stall' Play Market also utilizes modular characteristic containers, which have become highly recognizable check-in points in the market, adding a youthful flair to the event.
