Small Container House Renovation Plan
The renovation of small container houses should take into account space utilization, functional adaptation, and cost optimization, achieving efficient renovation through modular design, reasonable layout, and material selection.

1. Space Planning and Functional Adaptation
Container houses have limited space and need to expand their space through modular assembly. For example, using 2-3 containers stacked in a staggered manner can create functional areas such as living-dining rooms, bedrooms, and bathrooms. If the area is only 15 square meters, it is recommended to use foldable furniture (such as foldable beds and tables) to enhance space flexibility. During the day, it can serve as a sofa or work area, and at night, it can be unfolded into a sleeping area. In addition, integrated design can reduce the sense of spatial separation. For example, a partition-free design between the bedroom and living room, combined with an open storage system, meets storage needs while maintaining transparency.
2. Lighting and Thermal Insulation Performance Optimization
The metal walls of containers are prone to heat conduction, so it is necessary to focus on solving the insulation problem. Internal insulation layers should be added to the walls and roof (such as rigid polyurethane foam), and triple-glazed windows should be selected to reduce heat conduction efficiency. In terms of lighting, large floor-to-ceiling windows, roof skylights, or glass partitions can be installed to enhance indoor brightness. If used in cold regions, fire-resistant and high-temperature-resistant materials should be used in key areas (such as around stoves), and sunshades or eaves should be installed to prevent excessive exposure in summer.
3. Material Selection and Rust Prevention Treatment
The spacing between the longitudinal beams of the container's bottom frame is relatively large, and directly using it as a living space can lead to insufficient floor stiffness. During renovation, C-shaped steel purlins should be added between the bottom beams to evenly distribute the load and ensure structural stability when stacking up to three layers. In terms of surface anti-corrosion treatment, shot blasting should be carried out first to remove rust, and then zinc-rich primer and polyurethane topcoat should be sprayed to form a protective system, enabling the steel to maintain a service life of more than 15 years in humid environments.
4. Integration of Water, Electricity, and Sewage Systems
For wild scenarios without water and electricity, a self-circulating sewage system needs to be integrated. For example, a sewage collection tank and a gravity separator can be installed at the bottom of the container to treat gray water (washing water) through sedimentation and activated carbon filtration for vegetation irrigation; black water (toilet sewage) can be converted into liquid fertilizer through anaerobic fermentation with microbial agents. Solar panels can solve the electricity problem, and lifting rods can be installed at the four corners of the roof to connect the panels while ensuring indoor ventilation.
