Simple Home Portable Toilet Materials

Admin 02 de octubre de 2026

The main materials for simple home portable toilets include water storage tanks, wooden boards, universal wheels, plastic buckets, drainage pipes, toilets, water tanks, and auxiliary accessories, etc.. The following provides an explanation from three aspects: core structural materials, functional component materials, and auxiliary materials.

Core Structural Materials
The water storage tank is the basic container of the portable toilet. It is usually made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP), which has the characteristics of corrosion resistance and impact resistance, and is used to store clean water or sewage. Wooden boards and honeycomb wooden boards serve as the main frame components. The former is used to build countertop or support structures, while the latter, with its internal honeycomb design, combines lightweight and high strength, making it suitable for walls or partitions. Universal wheels should be made of rubber with strong load-bearing capacity and quiet operation to ensure easy and stable movement. Plastic buckets (such as sewage buckets) are mostly made of recycled plastic, which is low-cost and acid- and alkali-resistant, used for collecting excrement, and need to be equipped with sealed lids to prevent odor diffusion.

Functional Component Materials
Toilets and water tanks are the core functional components. Toilets can be made of ceramic or engineering plastic. Ceramic is more durable but heavier, while plastic is lightweight and easy to clean; water tanks are usually made of plastic, and a float valve needs to be installed inside to control the water level. Drainage pipes and hoses should be made of PVC or PE. The former is aging-resistant, and the latter has good flexibility, facilitating bending and connection. If equipped with a shower function, additional water pipes, three-way connectors, and waterproof circuits are required for the showerhead and bathroom heater. It is recommended to use stainless steel corrugated pipes for the water pipes, which are heat-resistant and deformation-resistant.

Auxiliary and Sealing Materials
Self-tapping screws are used to fix wooden boards and frames and should be made of stainless steel to prevent rusting; glass glue is used for sealing between the toilet, water tank, and countertop and needs to have anti-mold properties; sponge strips and foam strips serve as buffer materials, filled in door gaps or joints to enhance sound insulation and leak prevention; white waterproof paint is applied to wooden surfaces, which is not only aesthetically pleasing but also isolates moisture and extends the service life. In addition, plastic soft boards can be used as removable baffles for easy cleaning; straight connectors are used for quick pipe connections to reduce the risk of water leakage.

Material selection should take into account durability, environmental friendliness, and cost. For example, the capacity of the water storage tank should be selected according to the number of family members (such as 20-50L), the thickness of the wooden board should be ≥1.5cm to ensure load-bearing capacity, and the diameter of the universal wheel should be ≥10cm to improve passability. For long-term use, ceramic toilets and stainless steel accessories can be preferred; for temporary use, engineering plastic and recycled plastic are more economical.
