Shenzhen Container House Size Chart

Admin 16 de septiembre de 2026

Common sizes of container houses in Shenzhen include 20-foot, 40-foot, 40-foot high-cube, and 45-foot high-cube specifications. The internal net dimensions vary depending on the container type, with common combined dimensions ranging from 6 to 13.58 meters in length, 2.33 to 2.43 meters in width, and 2.35 to 2.89 meters in height.

I. Basic Dimensions of International Standard Containers

The internationally standardized dry cargo containers (DRY CONTAINER) primarily come in 20-foot and 40-foot sizes:

  • 20-foot Container: External dimensions are 6.058 meters in length, 2.438 meters in width, and 2.591 meters in height. The internal net dimensions are approximately 5.898 meters in length, 2.352 meters in width, and 2.390 meters in height, with a volume of about 33 cubic meters and a load capacity of 25 tons.
  • 40-foot Container: External dimensions are 12.192 meters in length, 2.438 meters in width, and 2.591 meters in height. The internal net dimensions are approximately 12.024 meters in length, 2.352 meters in width, and 2.390 meters in height, with a volume of about 67 cubic meters and a load capacity of 45 tons.
  • 40-foot High-Cube Container: The height is increased to 2.896 meters, with an internal net height of about 2.655 meters and a volume increased to 76 cubic meters, suitable for scenarios requiring more height.
  • 45-foot High-Cube Container: The internal net dimensions are 13.58 meters in length, 2.34 meters in width, and 2.68 meters in height, with a volume of up to 86 cubic meters and a gross weight capacity of generally 29 tons, commonly used for large-scale logistics or temporary buildings.

II. Domestic Standard and Customized Sizes

In the production of container houses in China, common standard sizes differ slightly from maritime containers, with a greater emphasis on living comfort:

  • General Standard Size: 6 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 2.9 meters in height, suitable for construction site offices, commercial displays, etc.
  • Export Standard Size: 6 meters in length, 2.4 meters in width, and 2.9 meters in height, compliant with international transportation standards, facilitating export or cross-border projects.
  • Combined Customized Size: Space is expanded by joining multiple containers. For example, two 20-foot containers joined horizontally result in dimensions of 6 meters in length, 4.86 meters in width, and 2.9 meters in height; three 40-foot containers joined can reach dimensions of up to 11.8 meters in length, 6.75 meters in width, and 2.8 meters in height, providing an available area of over 80 square meters.

III. Special Container Type Sizes

Some projects adopt non-standard container types to meet specific needs:

  • Open-Top Container: The top is open, facilitating the loading of oversized cargo. The internal net height of a 20-foot open-top container is about 2.31 meters, and that of a 40-foot open-top container is about 2.15 meters.
  • Flat-Rack Container: The bottom has no threshold, suitable for transporting heavy machinery. The internal net height of a 20-foot flat-rack container is about 2.15 meters.
