Shanxi prefabricated modular housing is a form of architecture that is prefabricated through industrial production methods and assembled on-site, featuring modular design, factory prefabrication, and the ability to be disassembled and relocated. It mainly includes two major categories: integrated housing and space capsule mobile housing.

Integrated Housing

• Basic Principles and Characteristics: The building is broken down into standardized modules, with major processes such as structure, enclosure, and piping completed in the factory before being transported to the site for assembly. Components are produced according to unified standards, ensuring high dimensional accuracy and controllable quality. Mostly using light steel structures or steel frame structures, combined with sandwich panels, rock wool boards, and other enclosure materials, it achieves functions such as thermal insulation, heat insulation, and moisture resistance, and the housing can be disassembled and relocated.
• Common Types:
  • Simple Houses: Single-story or double-story light steel movable panel houses, with simple structures and easy disassembly and assembly, mostly used for construction sites or temporary post-disaster resettlement.
  • Expansion Boxes: Based on container modifications, they integrate systems such as water, electricity, furniture, and sanitation inside, and can be combined to form larger spaces, often used for small offices, sales offices, or field research stations.
  • Mobile Homestays and Homestay Houses: Focusing on living experience and exterior design, they use high-quality thermal insulation materials, with customizable textures on the exterior facade and an interior layout close to traditional housing, suitable for tourist attractions or rural vacation projects.
• Technical Characteristics:
  • Thermal Insulation: Double-layer wall panels filled with thermal insulation cotton or polyurethane foam, combined with thermal break aluminum doors and windows, meet energy-saving standards.
  • Fire Resistance: Rock wool sandwich panels can achieve a Class A fire rating, suitable for crowded places.
  • Earthquake Resistance: Light steel structures have good ductility and can dissipate energy through deformation during earthquakes, outperforming brick-and-mortar structures of the same volume.

Space Capsule Mobile Housing

• Core Technical Principles: Using a steel structure skeleton as the load-bearing component, combined with thermal insulation composite panels to form the enclosure structure, internal piping, doors and windows, and decorations are all integrated in the factory, with only foundation leveling and hoisting docking required on-site.
• Product Categories: Including single-person capsules (independent workstations or single-person dormitories), family capsules (with bedrooms, bathrooms, and simple kitchens), and combined capsules (which can be spliced to form larger spaces).
• Usage Requirements: Concrete strip foundations need to be poured on-site or prefabricated bases laid. The connection of water and electricity pipelines requires professional operation. During relocation, foundation connections and sealing treatments need to be redone, suitable for medium- to long-term fixed usage scenarios.
